I am in the process of a new build, and I want to maximize my performance for my money. My question right now is this:

Will the Corsair 750hx be sufficient for my needs? I will be using the following system, but I may add more to it over the next year or two. So I want keep in mind possibilities for crossfiring, and adding extra drives later on. I could play it safe and get the Corsair 850hx, but if it is truly not needed, I would rather put the money to a better video card or something else.

My system:

Case - Haf 922

Mobo - Asus 890fx w/ SATA 6.0 USB 3.0

CPU - AMD 1090T x6 3.2 GHz

CPU Fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus

GFX - HIS Turbo 5870

Drives - One DVD burner, one 7200 RPM Hdd. Will add 1-2 SSDs down the road.

Currently I'm leaning toward the 850 just to be safe - I'd rather not close doors later on for upgrades, but if you guys think 850 would just be excessive for any upgrades I would do, then I'll go with the 750. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the help! Modular is important to me, as are noise and heat.

From what I've read, the Corsair HX series are some of the best PSUs out there which was why I was looking at them.
Both the XFX and modular Silverstone look very good. They're both silver certified, and have one 12v rail with 62 and 67 amps respectively.
I'm intrigued by the XFX as I can combo it with a 5870 for a -$40, and it costs $20 less anyway. It is only 750watt, but you guys think 750 is enough? The Silverstone is more modular though, and it is 850 watt too. I'm leaning towards 850 since I'd just rather be safe than sorry.

Do you guys own these? What can you personally say about their noise and heat production? The newegg reviews look great on both. I'll find more in depth articles about them now.

I guess the dilemma now is: would 750 watts be enough? How sure can I be of that? If I can feel safe crossfiring and adding more drives with 750w, I am getting the XFX as it would save me about $70.

Newegg's PSU calculator says I need 895w, but eXtreme calculator (http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine) says 609w (which can't be right since x-fire requires 600 alone, not to mention the rest of the PC). Is Newegg's calculator just too high but the other is too low?

I think so too. The XFX is just sucking me in with the price haha. I'm going to get the silverstone I think.

Thanks lot everyone for all the help!
