Hello,

Last month I changed my power supply because my old one was semi-broken for about 6 months. Let me explain: whenever I played heavy games, I got a blue screen, and strange noises came from the fan when the computer started up. Anyway, after replacing it with a new power supply, everything worked smoothly for a month—until today.

When I started the computer, I heard the same strange sound again. It seemed like the fan was touching on something inside it was causing the issue. I’m not sure if it’s related to the motor. I removed the power supply from the case and cleaned it as much as I could with a hair dryer, but I didn’t completely disassemble it since that could be dangerous.

I also made a sound recording for you to listen to. As you can hear in the recording, the fan works unstably. This was the same issue I experienced with my old power supply. I’m unsure if the problem could be related to the socket, but I already tried changing the socket and the power cord—yet the problem persists.

If this is your new PSU, what was the make and model of your prior PSU?

You might want to remove the PSU from your build and have the fan facing up while you try and power the system.

If the sound persists after relocating to another wall outlet, try and take the system over to a friend's house and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't...

then try and bring in a certified electrician to scope out your wiring in your abode.

That might not be the fan, it might be the internals of the PSU...which would mean you should RMA the unit. Was this unit purchased brand new or used?

I tried what you said, but the problem persisted again, luckily my father is taken from the electricity, and he also has something called UPS, a current saver power supply, we tried by plugging it in, but the problem still persisted, my father says that the problem is that the oil in the power supply needs to be changed, but it has only been a month since it was taken to the power supply, and the warranty continues, I think I will send it to the warranty without disassembling it.

What do you think ?
