Solution
Based on a HardOCP review of your PSU's smaller brother (same OEM), at realistic temperatures yours is most likely to be a 700W PSU, possibly only 650W. Fortunately, that is enough for a pair of GTX970 graphics cards.

Edit: The OP does not have three cards now, he has a model called "tri-x" likely because of its three fans.
A pair of power-hungry 290x cards would need 850W, but the more frugal GTX970 does not.

Any of the mid to high end current generation cards in SLI / Crossfire recommend at least a minimum of 850 - 1000w PSU. if you're going to do two 290x cards, I wouldn't go less than 1000w. I'm shocked frankly that you have three 280x cards running on 750w - they recommend 850w minimum for two.

Solution

I often hear of triple crossfire setups referred to in that context so that threw me for a loop. That being said, I'd still consider going with something slightly beefier given the OCing and to also have some extra overhead. I prefer to always have a little more than "just enough".

so there is no risk in putting 2 970's in my setup
and yes which one to go for msi or asus
