Yo, didnt really get any answers on reddit so I came here instead :)
I am currently building my first nas, I am only missing the psu.
I have
Jonsbo N4
Msi b250m matx
Pentium g4560
16gb ram
4x 2tb hdd
1x sata ssd
1x nvme

Whats the best sfx psu for this? I have only found the Chieftec compact 450w gold rated.
There is some seasonic and thermaltake. But there is long delivery time :( I live in Sweden so something within europe.

There are plenty of other options available to you depending on your budget. What is the max price you are able to budget for this unit, in Krona?
In krona, 1500. If there is good options above I can extend ofc. I don’t really need much watts either
Here I have found a seasonic, but it is in stock again 15 december

The Seasonic is a good option. The Thermaltake should be decent because most all of the Toughpower units from that era were, but it's a tough sell for me because there are no reviews of it and they have both very good and very terrible models, although I'd certainly go with it over most anything sold by Chieftec. I've been told by Jon Gerow (JonnyGuru) that Chieftec does have some good units, but I've never seen anything of theirs reviewed that came out looking like anything more than a turd. Been asked before about that unit as seen here.

If you can afford the Corsair SF750 that's one of the better units out there, or at least it was at one time. I haven't looked recently at what's on tap for SFX units other than on PC Partpicker. But they don't have anything smaller in SFX form factor and that one is a bit expensive at like 2000kr.

Honestly though, from what I'm seeing available, the Seasonic is the best option at or near your budget.

you need to calculate the power needs of your PC's components, including CPU, Motherboard, GPU, RAM, hard drives, and any other devices you plan to use, to shows which psu is good

I think when you're looking at reviews of potential candidates the efficiency of the power supply is by far the most important, especially at low load.

A lot of the scenarios tested, like crossload or ripple at 100% load are very unlikely to ever occur in a NAS, but you will want efficiency for your power bill.

I second the recommendation for a Corsair SF unit if you can afford it.

So, 450w is MORE than plenty, however, as I mentioned earlier, the fact is that these days there are very few SFX or ATX power supplies of any decent quality out there that are less than 550w. And the ones that there are, are generally more expensive than a 550-650w unit so it makes little sense to pay more for a lower capacity model. Having a PSU that uses more power than you need isn't a problem so long as you're buying a quality unit with at least Gold efficiency. In fact, it's never a problem, it just may not be AS efficient if you're running a very high capacity PSU with a system that only needs a very small capacity, but it would still work fine. There'd just be some minor additional "waste", but in terms of a year of operation you're talking a few extra dollars at worst.

Don't overthink it, that's the problem a lot of people have.
