I'll look into it. Never heard of Frontech before. @jonnyguru ?
Here is the PSU I was talking about. Its approx ₹1000-1100/$15

It advertises 800W but outputs just 300W on the 12V rail, attached an image of the psu advertised ratings.

Well, it technically puts out a total of 480W on the two different 12V rails combined.

I'm guessing this is a VERY old design, given that it's offering so much power on the 5V (and to a lesser extent, the 3.3V) rails.

That the model number starts with "ATX P4 Power Supply..." makes me wonder if this thing was new back in the Pentium 4 days, and they were trying to advertise that in a way in the model number.

It is a very old P4 days model based on that. Plus, it's clearly been opened and damaged based on the bent frame. I'd highly recommend that you discard that unit. It isn't however enough, just based on the label, for me to want to add it to the "these are garbage" list of units because I just don't know enough about the brand in general to feel confident that it's the case. Now, if I could find evidence of several of their products being dumpster fire type units or all of the labels from several of their products not adding up to the listed, advertised capacity, then I'd think it could be included until some evidence suggests otherwise.

An updated Corsair vs. interesting.

Now with flat black cables and a 600w output not 550 or 650.

I don't think the cables are "new". Maybe a rolling change across the whole line up that never got reflected in the product shots.

500W and 600W are not a new PSU. Just 50W interval of the same thing.

And here's a CV with that same type of weird font for the model number.

You've seen a CV with a different font?

I think a CV650 was around $65 or 70, and a VS600 about $60. Not too bad, not great.

I picked up one of these, mostly out of shear curiosity. I have a new build with some rather nice hw that I needed a nice PSU for. We will have to see how good it is.

From what I saw after some research, its Andyson based with llc resonant and dc-dc, active pfc, 80+ gold, and all the power available on the 12v rail. Seems too good to be true for $55. I'm guessing similar to a Antec NEG 600w. The 3 year warranty is not good, but I will resell the PC without a warranty so that doesn't really matter. If it seems good once I open it up, I might buy some more of these for builds.

Someone bought one and opened it up and posted here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?17849-Apevia-Prestige-Teardown

Does have DC to DC. A little anemic, but....
