As another member mentioned, I am in New Zealand (my well be only a 230VAC version and as such will not show up in the US or other countries)

I just ordered it yesterday after reading a tom's hardware review and also getting in touch with SR-71 Blackbird

Hey, can you review this psu unit, Aerocool Kcas 600w 80plus bronze, i just buy that psu and i want to know if i need to change it or not, thanks.

If it's sold by Aerocool, you can pretty much assume it's junk, unless they've recently contracted better units with a new OEM. They are making some good case fans now, whereas the ones they used to sell were crappy, so it's possible, but it's unlikely. Their Strike-X units are firestarters, and I suspect these are no better and probably worse since the Strike-X is supposed to be their flagship product but is terrible.

I wouldn't buy any of their products aside from some of their case fans, and if I was really in a pinch, maybe one or two of their cases for an extremely budget oriented build. The ones that don't come with power supplies, or if it came with one, use the case and throw the PSU in the trash.

Their cases don't look bad, if you like flashy cases. They're just not as high quality as you'd expect a serious manufacturer to be and of course their power supplies are really poor quality in every instance I've encountered. But I'd use one of their cases over a lot of other brands.

Just because Seasonic makes it doesn't mean it's 100% identical. Seasonic has made hundreds of different types of power supplies. It's just like how Nvidia makes lots of graphic cards, or how Intel makes a lot of processors. They're not the same. They're designed with different components.

I personally think the GS Series should be in Tier 2.

So what is better (evga gs 650w or seasonic g 650w)? And how about the EVGA supernova g2 550w? Does it better of those 2? Is it should in tier 1 or not, what do you think?

It's advancements in technology. The Seasonic G was first designed and implemented by Seasonic a few years ago using, then, current tech parts. Evga took the G series platform and has specified to Seasonic to use that same platform but use a slightly higher grade of part. Same platform, same design, same quality of build but slightly better performance in things like ripple. Either is an excellent psu, both are Seasonic built, but 1 is in house designed, the other a slightly better copy. The G2 is built by SuperFlower. Same deal.

for starters none of the GS units are based on the G platform. the 550 and 650 do perform worse than S12G/G based psus though.

acording to the guidelines and the performance of each unit, the 550 and 650 GS should definitely be there. why separate other series and not those is a mistery as the performance gap from the 550/650 GS to the 850/1050 is pretty big.

you can see in the review you linked earlier.

three things:

1. did somebody inside EVGA/Seasonic tell you this?
2. the tests of this platform show ripple supression and vreg to be lesser than the G series.
3. are you saying EVGA designed the GS units?

The EVGA GS models and the Cyonic AUx Series are built on the same new Seasonic platform so it's obvious that EVGA had no hand in designing it. Also, it is not based on the Seasonic G Series when you look at a tear down of both models placed side by side.

Ya know, I could sworn the GS were revamped G, guess I was wrong. Thanks for the correction ko888.

You don't need insider info to understand that 3rd party brands call up OEM builders, spec out a psu platform and make a couple changes. Sometimes they'll even send a design to the OEM, who then builds it for them. Sometimes this has great results, like the Evga G2's built by SuperFlower, sometimes not, like the Corsair RM 750/850 built by Chicony.

Either way, OEM just builds what the buyer wants, whether it's a rebranded copy or brand new design.

bingo.

I just wanted to check if anything in your post I quoted had any veracity to it.
