Personally, I'm all for other companies bringing the heat to the market. The more companies that are putting out quality units, the more competition there will be, the more innovation there will be and the prices will or should drop correspondingly due to that competitiveness. Plus, to get the edge, companies will need to offer features that the competition doesn't have, so quality and feature sets ought to improve as well.

The problem with that, is that most people just want "cheap", not "good".

That unit's ( the XT series ) not made by Seasonic but it is a Seasonic design. I don't think one has been reviewed yet but it doesn't look like the same quality people are used to from XFX/Seasonic. I wouldn't recommend it at this point.

Hello again guys, today i've got my Seasonic SSR-650w and its produce hight sound like coil whine i think, little but still, its ok for this tier of PSU or i should rma it?

Coil whine is considered a valid reason to RMA I believe. It's up to you if it's annoying enough to send back.

^Agreed. Personally I would RMA the PSU. I would think that a name brand like Seasonic would allow you to do an "advance RMA" if you gave them your credit card number. Meaning, they should have a policy that allows them to send a customer a replacement part first, before they [the customer] have to send back the damaged part. But if you don't send it back with a reasonable time (perhaps 14 days) then they will bill you for the new PSU.

FSP makes some great stuff. The only thing separating them from Seasonic and Super Flower is that they still produce total garbage like the Raider series. Some of these major companies should be embarrassed by some of the crap they stick a psu label on. It's just hard to take them seriously and/or trust their supposed "good" stuff when we know they don't REALLY care about quality all the time.

Dang, the Seasonic Snow Silent series is really nice. The 750W model has incredible voltage regulation. Man, I kind of want one. But man it's pricey.

Also, the Snow Silent 750W unit needs added to Tier 1 on this list. Tomshardware reviewed it last summer. Only the 1050W is on there.

There's a 750w version too. Isn't it just a Platinum series with a different case?

I want to see the new series coming from Seasonic soon. Maybe our buddy from orionpsudb knows something about them? New platform? If I needed to upgrade and I don't for years with this Platinum 660w, it would be to one of the new Titanium units from them. Assuming they are as good as expected of course. RealHardtechx has them listed as pending certification and as having a 10 year warranty so that's promising.

If the Snow Silent is a rebadged Platinum Series, which it probably is, I still think these units are incredible. The Platinum Fanless is also incredible, as seen on the Silverstone Nightjar 520W. All these Seasonic units are just so good, I'll go as far as saying they are the best consumer units on the market. People just don't get them because of the price, but I wouldn't mind paying the hefty price for the quality you get. It's true, the EVGA G2, Corsair AXi and such is similar in performance, but I don't mind paying a premium for power supplies.

See I swear I recall a review on HardOCP where they said that they were done using software to monitor voltages because of complaints, and that kind of set me off from them. But that might have been an older review, because this one uses a SM-8800 and an oscilloscope.

I really wish they would not score value frankly, because prices always fluctuate a lot. But oh, whatever. I also which their scoring deductions were more heavy. I find that if you take a great unit compared to a mediocre unit, they are almost always 8 or higher. I feel like there is no in the middle. Horrible units are like a 2. But from 3-7 there is barely anything.

I agree that price should be removed from PSU reviews as far as determining if it's a quality unit.
I still think my Delta-overbuilt SG-650 is likely to live as long as I do. Surpassed in some measures, for durability I'm not so sure it has an equal.
