Q6600 not stable

Heya all, I was hoping that someone could tell me why my Q6600 wont stabalize. After setting voltages ect. I go to start windows and get a blue screen followed by a restart.

- Set FSB to 1333, DRAM - 667
-Vcore went from ranges 1.26 to 1.5 no stability (multiple attempts)
-left NB,SB,and HT on auto

Ive been trying to get this stable for weeks now; every once in a while peeking in my BOIS and tweaking around. This is driving me nuts. I read the OC guide for Quads that was sticked but it did not appease my situation. My PC Specs are in my "Member Configuration".

What RAM are you using? (667, 800, 1066 + manufacturer)
CPU multiplier setting?
target overclock speed?
NB Strap Setting?

What is the load temp for your CPU? I've got my Q6600 running at 3.4GHz stable, but wanting to push it further. Problem is that CPU load temps max out.
What freq. is your RAM? I see you've got it set to 800MHz, but am wondering if you've underclocked it?

Could be that your voltages are just to high. Every CPU is different even if you use the same mobo as the guy across the street that pushed his to 3GHZ. Just pull the voltages down until you don't blue screen or till you can boot and run well.

Also keep in mind, according to his configuration profile, the OP is using a 750i motherboard. nVidia's chipsets are not the best for OC'ing the Q6600 from what I've learned.

I know for sure my 680i board isn't that great. I've heard mixed reviews on the 7 series boards.

I've got my Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz on my 680i LT SLI board. But I can't squeeze any more out of it no matter what settings I use. It just won't stabilize. My last 680i board (old one went bad) wouldn't OC my CPU at all. So sometimes we run into bum luck like this.

Just tested it with intelburn test 1.9 and found the above settings not to be stable, have found now everything to auto except for

fsb frequency 400
dram frequency 1066 which is what my ram will run at
cpu voltage 1.45 had to go this high for it to be stable


temperatures at idol before test were 35, 34, 33, 32
temperatures after running intelburn test were 82, 82, 79, 79
above temperature readings are recorded using real temp

also ran occt and got roughly the same temperatures running occt for 1 hour

have got my q6600 to 4.0 GHz but at a high voltage and temp in the late 80s to 94 think i need another twin rad in my system or stick the hole set up in the freezer lol

OMG this is HIGH temp ... i load @ 43-45 (E6850 @ 3.6 1.456vcore)

Dont use this 24/7 with those temp, 80C is HIGH.

only get in the 80s with intelburn test ,as it take the cpu to the max have a look at the specs ,normal temp are in the late 40s early 50s. (intel burn test say load temp under linpack will be upto 22c hihger than competing software prime 95) and that it is a extremely stressful program that will put even the most powerful X86/X64 CPU in the world at its knees. If you can run this program then your pc is stable download it and have fun

IBT is more stressful than P95. Try for yourself.

I downloaded the IntelBurnTest zip and emailed it to myself. That way I can try it out when I get home from work. Curious to see the results. Have been running my Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz for months now without any issue. Should be interesting to see if I pass this test.
