Hey guys I overclocked my q6600 t 3.2Ghz

My spec is
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40 GHZ G0 (overclocked to 3.2GHZ)
Cooler Master Hyper Z600 - Silent
ASUS P5N-D S/L 1333FSB (NVIDIA 750i)
Corsair XMS2 4GB PC-6400 800 MHZ (4 x 1 GB) (DDR2)
Palit ATI Radeon HD 4870 - 1 GB - 2xDVI/VGA - OverClocked
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-BIT
500 GB SATA-II HDD UDMA 300 7200 16MB
OCZ 600W Stealth XStream - Low Noise

What do I need to run and for how long to make sure its stable.
I run LinX 10 times with errors, but i think my temperatures are to high.

Need more info. Does it pass LinX at stock speeds? What is the temp running LinX at stock speeds? Temp running LinX at 3.2? What voltage are you running to get to 3.2?

Although temps are perhaps a little high for only 3.2 GHz., 60C - 65C at full load is not too bad. I ran me Q6600 at 3.6 GHz, but that was with a TRUE inan Antec 900 case.

The usual program we use is Prime95.
----------
Overclocking since 1978 - Z80 (TRS-80) from 1.77 MHz to 2.01 MHz

I see no screenshots in this thread, only text.. Im at work though, so its possible they are just being blocked.. 60-65 is in the upper limit of acceptable temps but Im not sure its causing your issue here.. I see your DRAm voltage is set to AUTO, what is the system setting your memory voltage to? Since you have all 4 slots populated, you may need to up the voltage a bit. Im not at home to check the exact voltage on my CPU, but i wouldnt think that you need 1.4 in order to get it running at 3.2. Mine at home is running under 1.4v @ 3.4Ghz and stays under 60c with my GeminII.

My bad.. I somehow glazed right over the actual question in your original post. JSC is correct. Prime95 is the easiest thing that will test the CPU and for the most part memory. If you really want to test the memory use memtest86+.

Well my pc just restarted on me running dvd rip and WoW. Alt+tab and boom restart.

So im gonna try
FSB 1423
Vcore - 1.4000V *
DRAM - 1.9 (5-5-5-18) stock settings*
HT - 1.38V,
NB - 1.40V,
SB - AUTO

ill leave prime 95 overnight and see what happends

well here is it

When core hit 60c degrees I turned my fans to max and opened the case. All core were around 50c all night.

After 10hours I can be sure system is stable right?

mrmez, most would agree that you could get a q6600 to 3.0ghz with very little vcore bump if any. once you break the 3.2 threshold increasing vcore becomes near exponential to get to 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6. I am running my q6600 @ 3.6ghz - 1.425V. My temps under load are between 60-65 on air.

Hi ConstanT1ne32,
I haven't read all of your other post but have you read the Core 2 Quad and Duo Temperature Guide by CumpuTronix? The article does talk about software to use for stress testing and the settings to use in that software

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/221745-29-core-quad-temperature-guide
I don't know if the url came out correctly but I'm sure you could find it by other means if you wanted to.

to mrmez,
I run my G0 q6600 at 3.6 with 1.525V in the bios, which after vdroop is 1.5V. Dropping the voltage to 1.5V in bios results in a rounding error on core 3 during Prime95 in the first 10 minutes.

Yes I know there is guide for every aspect of overclocking but I just I don't want to read them.

1st I'm hardly overclocking enthusiasts, I oc mine cos i want it to run bit faster thats it. I know that Q6600 can be pushed to 4.0ghz but I'm not interested doing so.

2nd I post of this forums because I know there is a lot of people who interested in this stuff and know way way more than me, so instead of learning the whole idea and all aspects of overclocking I'm just asking people who know what they are doing is
my system stable enough after 10h prime95?

In a way its like football, some people know where players go and for how much, who is better than Pele etc. But some just like watching grown men running and kicking ball around;p.
