Hello guys here at toms

I have found a retailer in denmark who has set his expected date for q9550 and q9450 to be in stock to be 29th jan 2008.

which of the processors will be the one to choose?

do you believe that they will have them in stock by that date?

looking forward for your reply

The only difference between those processors is the multiplier. Thus one is clocked 166 Mhz faster than the other. That's roughly a 6-7% increase in performance from q9450 to q9550.
The same question has been around with the Q6600 and Q6700. Most people went for the Q6600 because the performance difference is neglectible while the price difference is rather big.

The only benefit of the q9550 might be, that if you intend to overclock, the 0,5 higher multiplier can give you a little more headroom compared to the q9450, as some people have voiced concerns that the 9450 might run into mainboard based fsb-limitations.

E8500 or a Q6600 if want to oc them for max use

slob, big difference here

1) the q6600 multiplier is optimal out of the box, while the q9550 and q9450 are too low - hence use an E8500

2) the fsb is much higher, with these baby quads you can not oc the chips into the sweets spot and match memory unless you use ddr3 or have a really high fsb mobo - forget nvidia chipsets

people choose the Q6600 since it was cheaper and performance was the same - with these the Q9550 the extra multiplier may be very helpful

i would choose the Q9550 if you want max performance when oc
