Question QBitTorrent sometimes connects to peers and downloads ?

My QBitTorrent has been working but for the last couple of days I gets no peers nor does it download and in the connection status it says "no direct connections". I use SurfShark VPN and I can still surf web pages with the VPN. I have tried to troubleshoot my problem as follows:

• Adding ports to the port forwarding in the router
• adding ports to the PC firewall
• turning off my PC firewall
• resetting the router
• using https://www.canyouseeme.org/ too see if any of that other stuff worked
• tested with & without a VPN (it works)

If I leave it long enough it sometimes might find some seeders and downloads a file at full bandwidth but the rest of the torrents won't do a thing ?
