If Apple's OS is so great, they should really focus on that and give up the hardware race. Just produce an outstanding OS and let it be used on PC hardware.

Also, they would make a killing if they made their popular applications usable on the Windows OS. For myself, I'm in the film industry. Many filmmakers use Final Cut Pro, but many do not because it only works on a Mac. They could make a killing if they made a PC version.

In short: 1) Give up making hardware and let their OS run on PC hardware. 2) Focus on software like their OS and apps. 3) Make their apps usable on Windows as well as their own OS.

Sigh. Lotsa Mac hate from idiots. Sheesh.
1. Driver support. Yes Windows has more of it, but whenever has it worked well? Most Mac users are ignorant of drivers altogether, as whilst Windows drivers are always needing updates and maintence, Mac OSX runs what it brung just fine.
2. Lowering prices. Mac has to pay for all the software development it has to do to offer its product somehow. Most people complain OSX costs roughly as much as Vista: but what they don't realize is because MS has so much market, most developers code for MS products by default. Hence Mac invests lots of money into developing its own software.
3. Usability. I've yet to meet a Windows machine, other than one running specialized commercial software (Peachtree, for instance) that can do more than a Mac can. Oh, I'm not including games here either. Go outside and get a life, losers.
4. Stability. Vista has done wonders for stability on the PC. But it can't meet Mac's rock solid stability by a longshot.
5. Compatibility. Mac's just work. Need network storage? Get a Time Capsule, little to no setup and automatic backup. Need a wi-fi network? Airport takes the hassle out of it.

What I don't think Windows users are prepared to admit is that a Mac takes all the hassles and trips to GeekSquad out of the equation. That is why they are worth it. Mac needs to just retarget its ad campaign to fight the newest Windows onslaught. I lol'ed at the latest MS commericial that said an HP HDX had more computing power than a MBP. Just hilarious.

1. i have had my pc for three years now and i have never had driver issues windows updates itself and i haven't had headaches with it and neither have any of my friends or co workers and i still get more upgrade options with my pc than your over priced mac lol

2.what do i care how much they have spent for their stuff? i am looking for a solid performer at a reasonable price, i am not going to drop over a $1000 on a shitty 13 inch laptop when i could get a better specced 15.6/16 inch laptop everywhere else for much less than that.

3. this was just plain stupid, there is virtually nothing a mac can do that a pc can't sure doing it on a mac might seem more fun for others and what not but ultimately there is really nothing a mac can do that a pc cannot, however there are many things pc's can do that macs can't and you insulting gamers just shows how pathetic you are,it's 2009 stupid even aunt gertrude plays games its not a geeky thing anymore, in fact if you saw me you would think i am just another black guy from the city i don't look at all like a nerd but i still enjoy tech stuff and i still get laid...why would a pc or mac affect that? lol go figure you start by saying that macs can do more stuff then you promptly disregard one of the core things that macs lack typical fanboyism

4. lol mac's rock solid stabilty that comes at an outrageous cost with limited upgradeabilty and compatiblty with other softwares lol no thanks i will stick to my three year old pc which has never given me any troubles

5 compatibilty...lol where do i start here....everything you mentioned as a pc equivalent and they are just as easy to download and install in fact because windows is used by over 90% of the market there is a ton of different solutions and programs to satisfy anyone both free and propietary and they are all availabe to you one click away, and if you dont want to look windows offers similar solutions on their site for free so once again your rant is just empty rhetoric,go and play with your overpriced shiny box in the mean time i will build a 700 dollar system running both windows and linux mint (which i will configure to look and be five times prettier than your mac's not so special GUI) that will defecate all over your 2000 dollar mac thank you.

+1 to what rooseveltdon said. now i try not to be a "mac hater" but when you accuse windows users of having false information, you admit that you have never even used a windows pc and therefore have never had to deal with the problems you associate with windows.

i think roosevelt said enough for me, unless you of course retaliate with some more stuff you would like to make up. Oh and by the way, an HP HDX is is more powerful than a macbook pro, and $1000 cheaper at that configuration. Go customize it yourself on Hp's website and Apple's website.

I decided to max out the HDX and the mac on the websites. Go check out the specs to see which is much more powerful.

HDX:$3681.99

MBP: $4899

talk about an apple tax, and yes i know why they have to charge more, but it doesn't make me feel sorry for them, and it doesn't make me want to buy their product anymore just because Microsoft has a monopoly over most of the market.

Should have said "but it's hard not to when you accuse windows users of having false information, and when you admit that you have never even used a windows pc and therefore have never had to deal with the problems you associate with windows."

All this talk of macs vs pc's is really starting to annoy me and affect the fluidity of my writing lol.

2 things:
1) Decouple the OS from the hardware.
2) Offer 'lower end' models of their machines. The so-called apple tax isn't a premium for the apple brand, it's paying more for more powerful hardware that the typical user won't ever need. Any other computer brand with comparable specs is going to cost about the same, but apple only offers those high end models which is why you can't find one for cheap.

Give me the specs of the apple computer you are referring to and i will show you a pc with better specs for much less.

Where are you getting the information that any other computer with the same specs will cost just as much as a mac?

No, but seriously? They should use pure copper... Hell, pure GOLD on all of their computers. That way, we can laugh even harder at all the editors and mac fanboys who talk up macs so much... when they throw their money away.

They should create a lower-profile brand, just like everybody else.
Intel has their Celeron, AMD the Sempron, Asus - AsRock and so forth.
And let this product be mass-produced and sold by Dell as a mac-compatible.
Also a PC version would be great.
But, this could enrage the apple fanatics, they would feel betrayed and it could be the end of Apple as we know it.
Let's face it, Apple is not there to do as we please, if we buy their products or not. They have to make profits in a harsh economic environment and I'm afraid they need to keep that attitude if they want to survive.

No, but seriously? They should use pure copper... Hell, pure GOLD on all of their computers. (Ed.) Then raise the price by another few thousand. That way, we can laugh even harder at all the editors and mac fanboys who talk up macs so much... when they throw their money away.
