Am going to try this in any case but i'm curious to see what the forum thinks will happen. I am a freelance product designer. The build in question is used exclusively for 3D CAD modeling.

I am currently running the following 3D cad build

AMD FX 8320 Vishera @ 3.5Ghz
GTX 750Ti Graphics card (GV-N75TOC-2GI) released 2013
16GB ram
Windows 10 and solidworks 2014 running off an SSD
Cintiq 21ux and a 21" samsung 1080 monitors

Recently, i bought a firesale dell workstation on the assumption that it would have a pro graphics card in it and with the suspicion that graphics card would be on the older side. I was right on both counts.

Components in spare parts system

some crappy Zeon, ~09Q1 model
Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 ~1.5GB released 2009
who care GB ram
POS generic 1080 monitor

The question:

What performance change, if any would i see in solidworks 2014 real time performance (e.g. smoothness of large assembly rotation) if i was to swap the ill purposed 750ti for the older Quadro FX 4800?

some things to note.

Driver support for the niche 4800 is kinda crappy on previous o.s. so it may not even function to capacity on Win 10.

Apart from the Factory OC on the 750Ti, i have not, and am not overclocking or turboing any of the components.

Solution
The main draw for the Quadro series has always been highly specialized driver support, which vastly improves performance and stability in workstation applications, especially in offline rendering. The latest drivers for the Quadro FX 4800 are dated August 24, 2015, with support for Windows 10:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/90033/en-us

Based on this, you may actually observe improved rendering performance with the Quadro, which was tremendously powerful for its time, as well as very expensive.
