Hi,
I recently started building PC's for people. They give me a budget, we discuss about different options and then I build the PC. I recently ran into a customer that wants his PC to be able to run autocad and video rendering. After a little talking, he said he wanted to have a "pro" Nvidia GPU but I have absolutely no idea of what type of quadro to put in the build or even if a Geforce GPU wouldn't be batter. This is my build : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QNWCP6
I really don't know what to take as a GPU, I just took the GPU that fitted the best in his budget.
If you could help, it would be very helpful.

Solution

If your client is tight on budget, try Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 2GB Video Card - $189.99.

If he can stretch his budget a little, try Gigabyte GTX780 GDDR5-3GB for $329.99.

But never compromise on RAM. Let me see if I can suggest another Built for you which may help reduce the cost without reducing the efficiency.
Rendering is a CPU intensive task. Graphic cards play there part in the view port where the editing is done. But Pro Cards like Quadro could assist in rendering tasks. Better increase the RAM size to 16 GB of RAM and the card if possible, Quadro K4200 with 2, 3 or 4 GB of dedicated RAM. You can skip the Graphic card for an Nvidea GTX 980 though.

ok, I understand what you mean. The problem is that this is his aproximate budget so I don't really know what to put as a GPU. What would you recommend ?
Thanks for your answer,

Solution
Ok, I was thinking of the gtx780. He isn't tight on buget but 1300$ is the max he can stretch it.
I'll send him an e-mail to see if he's alright with this choice.
I'm sure you can get really good quadro GPU's but not for that budget... too bad :-( .
Thanks a lot.

You are most welcome.

But also consider this build as well. It is an AMD Build with a new FX 8370E Octa Core processor used by many of my 3D animator friends and video editing friends I have here in India. It is good as well.

Check this out and see if it is feasible.

Hi,
Nice build. I would probably pick that build myself but I already proposed some AMD and he didn't want AMD. I'll propose both and see what he thinks.
Even though that AMD processor is pretty good, it will never be as good as the intel I7. I think it's more his choice than mine, if he wants to have a better GPU or a better CPU.
I'll e-mail him and keep you posted.

Ofcource. AMDs processors are good. But i7 is a different deal altogether. If he prefers only Intel built, then I would say not to propose the AMD Built to him. just suggest the RAM upgrade and the Graphic card. RAM Upgrade would be the most crucial thing.

I think that would be enough for him. Best of luck with your built & I am sure your client will be more than happy with your choice of parts. Have to say, really good selection for the job at hand..

Hi,
Thanks.
I emailed my client and he is more than pleased with my choice. I'm going to send him the full list of parts and I'll probably start building it after.
If I remember, I will try to post a picture of the build here.
Thanks again for your help

You are most welcome mindoo. I will be looking forward to see the pictures of your built. Happy building .>>>:bounce: 😉
