Hi,

Here's what worked for my Acer Aspire V5-552P-X637 (also listed as V5-552P-X440) / Windows 8.1 with the same network adapter. First I uninstalled the driver because I was going to use one of the driver downloads posted here. Instead of using a driver download, in the Device Manager I right clicked on "Network Adapters" and selected "Scan for Hardware..." from popup menu. Network adapter reappeared as device, right clicked it and selected "Update driver software" > "Browse my computer for driver software" > "Let me pick from a list of Drivers on my computer" > there are two drivers listed by default, I selected the second driver and clicked next to install. My laptop hasn't disconnected since!

Before my the driver properties were:
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 5/3/2013
Driver Version: 3.0.1.155
Digital Signer: Microsoft

Now it is updated to below and has not disconnected once:
Driver Provider: Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc.
Driver Date: 3/11/2013
Driver Version: 10.0.0.234
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

Below are additional steps I took and didn't help prior to changing the driver. I'm not sure if they are necessary but I made sure these steps were still in effect after the driver was changed:

Disable/uncheck the "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" option under the Power Management tab of device properties.
AND change the settings here: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings
Click "Change advanced power settings" > select Balance in drop-down menu > click "Wireless Adapter Settings" > "Power Saving Mode" > click "On Battery" > select "Maximum Performance" then click Apply button.
Also repeat these steps for Power Saver option in the drop-down menu.

Hope this is helpful! :D

Okay, this will be a lengthy post, but I'm going to try and get you thorough this :D

First go to your start screen and type "Network and Sharing Center" then click on the settings option on the right. You will see the result in the left view, click on it.

You will see the name of your network, and you will see "Access type", "HomeGroup", and "Connections" please click on your network name, beside Connections. Please click on "Diagnose" at the bottom, what does it say? Also provide me with the make and model of the notebook.

Okay you can tell what kind of card you have by 1 or 2 ways... First way is looking on the bottom of the notebook it will have a sticker somewhere (maybe under the battery and sometimes inside the HD and memory bays) saying "This model contains raido ___________". The second way is just trying each one until it works :D

And just for you CD:

First off I assume you meant the V5-571PG not 571GP (cause there is no such thing according to Acer)

And this is the driver you want to instal:

Atheros chip http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless%20LAN_Atheros_10.0.0.225_W8x64_A.zip?acerid=634991898775034332&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE V5-571PG&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

Broadcom chip http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless%20LAN_Broadcom_6.30.59.20_W8x64_A.zip?acerid=634841384791622999&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE V5-571PG&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

Hello All, I have an Acer v5-471p-6467 touchscreen laptop with the atheros ar5bwb222. When I use my mother's internet connection, it has limited (she has an older belkin router. I just purchased a newer netgear for myself and it works just fine. I have tried to uninstall the included driver and install another. However, I always get the message that the driver I have is more current and the operation aborts. I am highly frustrated!

First off download these (save them do not run them)

Atheros: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless%20LAN_Atheros_10.0.0.225_W8x64_A.zip?acerid=634991898775034332&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE V5-471P&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_4
Broadcom: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless%20LAN_Broadcom_6.30.59.20_W8x64_A.zip?acerid=634883879684527449&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE V5-471P&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_4

Then go to your add/remove programs list (open your charms on the desktop and select settings then select control pannel) and remove your current driver. Restart your machine. Then install the correct driver listed above. (you MUST first uninstall your current driver before installing your new driver which during this time you will not be able to access the internet)

When installing the new driver from the .zip file please be sure to UNZIP first, then just run the setup.exe file from the unziped folder.
