So my dad is willing to get my a rtx 3080, would i need pci 4.0 support to get the most out of the rtx 3080?

Current mobo: Asus MAXIMUS X HERO
Current cpu: 9900k

So am either looking at the 5900x or waiting for the 11th gen intel cpus, but do i even need to upgrade to get the most out of the 3080? My pc is almost 2 years old now

Until graphics cards are powerful enough in pushing 8k over 100fps then maybe PCIe 4 will make sense. Pcie 5 will be out before that happens and we'll be discussing about this again 😃
