Hi, I'm looking to upgrade an old PC from 1GB to 2GB of RAM.
1GB = "512MB 1xR8 PC2-4200u-444-11”
2GB = "1GB 2xR8 PC2-4200u-444-11-B1"
Does the “B1” signify incompatibility?
The PC is Advent T9307 with MSI mobo with 2 memory banks.
Thanks
W

Thank you for your reply.

The 2GB of DDR2 RAM, the one ending in B1, is the RAM I’m considering buying but because my RAM doesn’t have the B1 on the end of the description, I don’t want to commit to buying the 2GB if the B1 means it will not be compatible; even though the rest of the description of the RAM is pretty much identical.

• So, the 1gig I have works fine but I need more.
• The 2gig that I covet may not be compatible (because of B1)
• If it is compatible I buy, if not I look elsewhere.

Thanks again for your help

Thanks again Rolli59

My gut tells me that the 2x1GB sticks will work. It's just the B1 on the sticks has thrown me and I can't find out on any site that explains what B1 means. I understand every other part of the description and it would just be my luck that I buy the RAM and it's not compatible, ha!

P.S. If you were in my position would you buy it?
