Question about gpu upgrade

Hey people i currently have a gtx 770 2gb oc with acx cooler and it works real nice but theres some games comin out soon that i want to upgrade it for. In also planning on upgrading my monitor from a 1080p ips to a 1440p 120hz one.

I want to get another 770 for sli cuz that would be a beast of a machine but my question is will the fact that they are 2gb 770s hinder my performance in new games? Or will 2gb be fine for another couple years? I dont want to buy a whole different gpu and spend more and not be as powerful. Any help is appreciated.

Well at higher resolutions it is true that you need more VRAM, have you considered selling your 770 and picking up something like a 4GB R9 290 as their prices have gone back to what they should be? And by 1440P 120Hz I am assuming you plan on buying a Korean monitor and trying to OC it?

Where are there 1440p monitors at 144hz? That is news to me, and I am very interested! I would totally appreciate some links.

to your question- I don't think I would recommend buying a 2gb card at this time, especially if you plan on going beyond 1080p. I would save up for a Maxwell card, or AMD, with 4GB vram+ . 2GB is just not enthusiast grade anymore I don't feel

I really want to stick with nvidia. Better cards, better drivers, physx, sli is better than xfire, pretty much everything. But not to turn this into an nvida vs amd argument im def stickin with nvidia.

And no i currently have a 1080p ips monitor and its nice but its only 60 hz. I want a higher res so im probly gettin a 1440p and i want a higher refresh rate so im lookin for 120hz. Why would i need to overclock? Does 2560 x 1440 not have 120 hz monitors or something?

Alright then stick with Nvidia and pick up a GPU with 3GB+. And what is your budget? Also there are no monitors that are 1440P and anything higher than 60Hz out of the box. There are however certain monitors that are great at overclocking, some of which you are almost guaranteed to get 100+Hz out of them. Personally since AMD lowered the prices of their mid range GPU's I'd pick up 2 R9 280(X)'s for less money than 1 780, but I understand you are only interested in Nvidia.
