Hey There,

I have a 2014 Macbook pro. It has an I5 4278U Haswell. 2.6ghz with 3.1 turbo.

I would like to get a newer 2016 so i can upgrade and extend my warranty, but the newer Macbook has an I5 6360U Skylake. 2.0ghz with 3.1 turbo.

Even though this new Macbook has a lower base clock speed, would it still perform at least as good as my older I5? Or even better, would it work better because of the new architecture and since the turbo is the same?

Thanks so much, trying to learn as much as i can about this stuff

Thanks! I just want to make sure it will perform at least as good as what i have now. I don't want to pay a bunch of extra money for the newer model, but downgrade my performance in the process. The clock speed had me concerned.

Yeah this is just a laptop i use to surf the web, stream netflix/youtube, and occasional work in Photoshop/premiere. Wasn't sure if the 2.0 ghz drop in clock speed would affect any of that.

I have a custom built I7 beast for actual intensive processing or work.

Yeh for surfing the web, streaming video and some PS it'll serve you good 😉
