I purchased one in December (2TB) but it's unopened and waiting on me to build my new system. I haven't installed it on my current system because the mother board doesn't have heat sinks for it and my new one will, so I don't want to glue a heat sink onto the drive.
If it has the bad version of the firmware, is it fine as long as it's not in use and I update it when I start using it, or does the problem impact it just by....existing? Do I need to temp throw it in my current computer with no heat sink, and update it's firmware now?
Thanks for reading.
