Hi-

I'm looking at getting my first LCD monitor- the Benq FP241W mostly because of all the good reviews I'm seeing here using the search function and on the internet. I'll be using it primarily for gaming and web surfing with an ATI Radeon x1900xtx. Anyone using the monitor for gaming? Liking it?

This monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200. I read on another forum that the current monitor doesn't support "scaling" but to wait a month or two and it will. Does my ATI x1900xtx support scaling? And if it does, then it won't matter if the monitor supports scaling, right?

And what happens if you play a game, for example, and one of the selections in that particular's game IS NOT 1920x1200? Will the game look bad on the screen? And what happens, for example, if you play a game in 1024x768 on a montior like this Benq FP241W that has a native resolution of 1920x1200? Does it look badly then? I guess my question is what happens whenever I don't play a game in 1920x1200?

Thanks!

Your question is exactly the problem.

You want to have the choice to display the input at its own resolution (clearly displayed but smaller... with black bars on the sides and/or top/bottom as necessary) OR have it rescaled [stretched].... not have it stretched and distorted by default.

Hopefully the video card will take care of that for you, but it's not 100%.

Rathe than take the chance, suggest you wait long enough that the new BenQ has the firmware upgrade to take care of this obvious omission.
