Hello guys,

First of all i love this forum and the website. It helped me alot of times in the past. The community is very mature and extremely helpfull in my opinion. Anyway i have been wondering about something for a while now and i thought maybe i can finally get a good answer if i post it here.

my specs:
- asus1080ti founder edition
- intel i7 - 3770k @ 3.50ghz
-16gb ram
- a very old motherboard (p8p67 deluxe) https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/271547/asus-p8p67-deluxe.html

I'm really wondering if my cpu and my motherboard is holding me back. My pc is acting up somethimes. I have a htc vive and its not really performing as it should i have the impression. Or maybe its just me.

So my question is do i need an upgrade for 4k gaming and my htc vive or is this good enough. If i need an upgrade what do u suggest?

Thx alot in advance

Solution
The p8p67 deluxe was designed for a second generation cpu . Your CPU is clearly a 3rd generation cpu but they implemented the final bios to support these, then stopped producing the motherboard . The pcie ports on the p67 are version 2.0 .Your cpu has 3.0. Your GFX is version 3.0 too. The later motherboards (z77) for that Cpu allowed for better and faster performance as they were designed with it in mind.
Now I apologize to any one who disagrees but the facts are online including benchmarks and can be compared etc .
I'm in no way trying to tell the chap to upgrade his board I just want him to have the FACTS and not just opinions.

You understand that raw numerical data does not always amount to real life performance, right? Like how "80+" PSUs may actually fall way out of regulation even though on the label, it's supposedly 80+ compliant, right? Or maybe that GPUs may not need more bandwith to transfer instructions and textures than what PCI-e 2.0 x16 needs?

Woah, woah, woah!!! Too far, man! Don't resort to personal attacks...!

Ill take the vacation ,Sorry for any harm caused.

Would you like to reconsider your statement, sir?

He absolutely wanted to win the argument even though all links that we provided proved that PCIe 3.0 provides minimal benefits, if any; that's why I asked if he was a teenager. Why would that question be perceived as a personal attack? I'm sorry if someone was offended, but all I can do is explain what I meant and it sure wasn't meant to offend the OP or anyone else.

Just wondering, what do you mean by underperforming? The only way I could see that the VR performance you're experiencing is below 144 Hz.
