I recently moved from a PC with 4 1080p monitors to 3 2560 monitors (ViewSonic VP2771 which have DP out and in). I also have a MacBook pro and a third machine running Linux which I have yet to build. I have a 4 port, 4 monitor KVM that has HDMI in and out.
My PC video card supports a max resolution of 3840 x 2160, so I assume I will need a new graphics card for that as well as the Linux machine. I want to be smart about this, so I am wondering a few things:
I would rather not screw this up, so any thoughts would be VERY appreciated.
My specs:
Windows 10 64-bit
i9 11900KF @ 3.5 GHz
STRIX z590-E
64 GB DDR4 3200

- Will my KVM impact the max resolution or limit the number of screens I can run?
- Is this solved by simply upgrading my video card to one that supports 7680x1440?
- Is there anything I can do to regarding MST? Can I daisy chain these? Do I really need such a large KVM? Can I do a single monitor out and daisy chain?
I would rather not screw this up, so any thoughts would be VERY appreciated.
