Question on Athlon II X4 630

Hi everyone,

I've been looking around for the answer to my question for the past 2 days now but to my disappointment no such luck.
I'm gonna set up a budget system with the Athlon II X4 630 cpu. For the motherboard I was thinking of the Asus M4N78 SE AM2+ mobo, but when looking @ the specs the Athlon II X4 did not show up as a cpu that would fit that socket, which i find weird because the Athlon II X2 and Phenom Cpu's do actually fit that socket.

Does anyone know if the Athlon II X4 will fit in the socket?

look for the 'core' , like as in if the athlon is a callisto core look for support for that core and if its there then its a safe bet that it'll support it

seams to me it will it will work unless you said the wrong MB. (just be sure to update the bios to the latest


As for why some motherboard can run cpus while others cant eventhough they run on the same socket. Mainly thats do to the bios not being updated to run newer cpu's
