I heard that you need to pay like 30$ after the death of win 10 to keep receiving new security updates

So, lets say what if i dont pay the 30$ ? Can i still just use my pc as it is ? Or its just going to crash or shut down or blocked or i dont really know what

since i can substitute windows defender with other antivirus like bitdefender, i dont really see any issue with not receiving any security update ( just my opinion )

Sorry for my bad english, hope you guys dont have a stroke from reading it
Thanks

Antivirus programs prevent actual virus or malware, but Windows security updates patch underlying vulnerabilities of the operating system. Going to the doctor regularly isn't a substitute for not washing your hands after you go to the bathroom; you want to do both.

the $30 is only once for one year for consumers.
not really worth it.
the thing is, if a code in Windows can be manipulated, antivirus or other tools can tell you nothing in advance. 80% of detection will happen afterwards or never, if a clever trojan is onboard. without security updates, the possibility over years will grow, that something can attack your system, steal data, passwords...
the system itself should run smoothly, till anti virus and other applications you wanna try will also not support win 10 anymore.

why not upgrading to win 11 for free?
