Questions about wireless router boxes

I purchased a D-Link wireless N router but didnt get a usb adapter with it. I bought the router on the internet. Can I use any usb adapter or do I have to purchase one that specifically goes with this router

So long as both use the same wireless mode -- G or N -- the setup will work. In fact most devices of all brands are compatible with both.

But with N you don't get the benefits unless both are N (and there may be issues between different brands with N).

So, might as well stick with D-Link and also avoid any confusion with terminology used in setup software and manuals.
