I'm no expert on ram but I know the basics, currently I have a budget gaming computer with 8gb (This 2x4gb kit @1866mhz w/ stock timings). My question is, is it normal to be using 75% of your ram while running skype, chrome with around 5 tabs, Avast AV, steam, Hamachi and logmein. Also if i download torrents (not sure if it matters but im downloading them to an in house NAS) sometimes my computer all but locks up, mouse lags, videos wont play and so on. If stuff like this is occurring do I likely have a virus? I have scanned a few times with both Avast and Malwarabytes both comeback clean except one occasion where avast found 16 infected file inside the java program files (I always keep java updated so i wasn't worried). Or is this completely normal and I simply need more ram? I only got 8 because I had read that any more than 8 is basically overkill as the average user rarely exceeds something like 4gb if i remember correctly.
A pic from processes in task manager:
Note ram is at 50%, I had rebooted 10 minutes earlier.
Full specs:
P877-v motherboard
core i7 3770k OC to 4.22ghz Multiplier@41 and base clock@103.0 V@1.2
GTX 480
Seasonic 620W PSU
WD caviar Black 1tb
SanDisk ReadyCache SSD (IMHO this thing is great, obviously not as good as the real thing though)
CM Storm Scout case, with many fans and an Antec Kuhler H2O 620 cpu cooler.
