Hey guys, I'm Building a new PC for gaming and general use. am having a dilema of two basic builds.

Must have: Dual Monitors (Split screens) for multitasking, Mini ITX build, Quiet, As compact as can be, Future upgradable, O.C friendly.
Better but not a must: USB-C (Video output), Built WIFI, Dual SSDs (One for constant backup), VR ready for future use, 4K friendly for future use.
Budget: Flexible

First build (Intel based)

CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.6 GHz Turbo Unlocked LGA1151 300 Series 95W
MB: ASUS ROG LGA1151 (300 Series) DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 Mini-ITX Motherboard (Strix B360-I Gaming)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz (PC4 21300) C16 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A2666C16)
GPU: ALREADY GOT: ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked 4 GB DDR5 256-bit DisplayPort HDMI 2.0 DVI-I Graphics Card
I plan to upgrade in a year or two to something like GTX 2080
CPU Fan: Noctua NH-L12S 70mm Low-Profile CPU Cooler with Quiet 120mm PWM Fan
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650 GM, 80 Plus Gold 650W, Fully Modular, ECO Mode with DBB Fan, 7 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, SFX Form Factor, Power Supply 123-GM-0650-Y1
Case: NZXT H200i - Mini-ITX PC Gaming Case - RGB Lighting and Fan Control - CAM-Powered Smart Device - Tempered Glass Panel - Enhanced Cable Management System – Water-Cooling Ready - Black/Blue
SSD: Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA M.2 Type 2280SS Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD4 X 2

The other build is based on AMD as followed:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-core, 12-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Spire Cooler
MB: MSI Performance Gaming AMD Ryzen 1st and 2nd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 HDMI Display Port Mini-ITX Motherboard (B450I Gaming Plus AC)

Even though I really wanna try an AMD build for the first time the reason I tend to go for the intel build is the fact that the MSI board probabely won't be compatible with the 3600 out of the box and since I don't have any AMD previous CPU I could not updrage the bios version (This board can not get upgraded using an USB flash drive).

There you go guys, I am really open minded so any suggesions and advices would be appreciated to get the best build for the cash.

Thanks!

A bit pricier but the case is beautiful, comes with a 650W PSU & has RGB. I think mixing the white with the silver on the MB & using RGB memory will really give it a good aesthetic look in a small form (if aesthetics are important to you). The PSU I think is a higher quality unit (can't imagine Inwin to use a junk PSU) and for 4K gaming I'd look at the 2070S as a minimum.

Oh boy, that´s alot of money for a case and PSU, but it looks very clean.

Show me sources. "Alot" means nothing. The video isn't just about the 3700x.
Well 5-15fps for the same price is not a lot? Also that might even improve, due to Zen2 being new. Fps went up as the Zen+ got older and i suppose the Zen2 will be the same.

Also, you buy a PC for at least a couple of years. Is it really better to get old gen, worse CPU, just because of one hurdle, which can be solved in a matter of days for a couple of bucks? Or probably not at any cost, since vendors might have those updated boards in t he stores soon?

Not much better. The difference is negligible:
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GjSiLbCtHU

The op will have to weigh 5-10fps difference in his games with bringing his new computer to a tech repair shop and they'll likely charge alot more than $5, which at that point you might as well purchase an x570 motherboard.
Additionally, there is the option of utilizing the "short term processor loan boot kit":
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

The question is, is all of this worth a negligible performance uplift? Seems like an awful lot of hoops to jump through just to get your b450 motherboard to work with your new R5 3600. If it were me i'd bight the bullet and purchase x570, if the R5 3600 was the only option or wait for b550.

Best Motherboards for AMD Ryzen 5 3600

Just a quick note: even though I am flexible regarding my budget I want to make it clear that I really believe in price/benifit ratio hence getting the most for the cash and that's how I want to make my build.
This Article speasks for itself. The best CPU now for gaming and general use is the 3600, The Asrock G450M pro 4 is the best regarding price/benefit too, So I believe I'll go with this basic set. I'll keep for now on my gtx 970, the resolution I'm using is ultrawide 1080p but I will get later on an additional monitor and a new GPU (probabely 2080) so I want the system to be as multitasking split screens friendly as possible.

The mini ITX build you put is nice but yet again it's too expenisive for its benifits plus I'm a bit worried with heat issues as well as future upgrade limitations due to its too compact size. the micro ATX in a compact case is a reasonable compromise.

Inspired by you guys great suggesions I came up with this build, your thoughts?

For back up I'll use a 500 gb SSD or a 1TB HDD which I already got
Need recommendation regarding a good dedicated wifi card.
As for aesthetics I need advices about RGB strips and fans setup to suit the case (The mb has one rgb header and one addr led).

Thanks you all for the nice discussion!

For WIFI I'll get a dedicated card.

As a budget friendly bang for the buck build, this is perfect in my opinion. Mobo WILL handle 3600 and 2080 in the future. You can have multiple monitors. As long as you don´t plan to game on them at the same time of course. 1TB HDD should be just fine as a backup storage.

One thing to keep in mind, you need LAN connection on that motherboard. Otherwise, i´d say pull the trigger.

Thanks man, nice to hear. Well ATM I got access to Ethernet but what am I suppose to do if I move out and have WIFI only? Won't a WIFI card be sufficient?

Well, WiFi cards usually go into PCIe slot. So you would have to check compatibility between the GPU and wifi card. Quite a few GPUs tend to overlap the second PCIe slot with their beefy coolers, and the space between the two PCIe slots on your mobo is quite small.

OK so the Asrock board will need a 2nd gen CPU tp upg its Bios which means I have to stick with MSI. Those can be upgraded usind a USB flash drive. Can someone confirm a succesfull bios upgrade for MSI - B450M GAMING PLUS Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ? Plus, Will a USB based WIFI dongle be enough for sufficient connection? If not I guess I'll go with a WIFI built in board, better be safe than sorry..

Any reccomendations are appreciated,
Thanks.

GPU: I'll keep using my GTX 970 for around a year or two and then upgrade to probably 2070 or 2080.

Will all components work great? is the system good for gaming in Ultra wide monitor with an additional monitor for general use and a later upgrade to 4k?

About the case I got two finals on my mind and would appreciate your reccomendations:

Corsiar air 240
NZXT H400 or H400i

Most important I want a compact and silent system so that's why I chose those two, However since I want to OC in the future and to replace the GPU I would like the best option regarding that.
I'm gonna build this myself so cable management is also important.

Thanks!

Go with a 2x8gb kit of memory. If you don't, your motherboard will not operate in dual channel and performance will be degraded.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I do go for the 2X8GB just could not find the exact model on pc picker for some reason so here it is:
HyperX FURY Red 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz CL18 Kit

Decided to go for the H400 as the corsair 240 has issues with some GPUs to fit in and as I plan to upgrade to the 2080 in the future I found the H400/H400i to suit best.

I need advice regarding CPU coolers which one of this two would be better for OC. I know both of them are not that good especialy the NZXT however I really like the look of that one..

Cooler Master RR-212S-20PC-R1 Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition CPU Air Cooler
or
ZXT Kraken M22 120mm

Components compatibility is very cruical for me so what's your thoughs guys?

It doesn't have to be a water cooler, there are many air coolers that don't cost nearly as much. That 3600 is going to be an amazing chip and you'll be able to upgrade your graphics card to something significant in the future. My advice is to go with an air cooler and spend the difference in cost on a 650w power supply for future expansion.

Thanks for your answers, few questions though:
Will a 650W PSU be a must for let's say upgrading the GPU to GTX 2080 bracket?

Regarding the CPU cooler, at first I wanted to go with Noctua - NH-L12S 55.44 CFM CPU Cooler air cooling however it is so huge and will probably limit my board (which is mATX anyways) optionals.

I found this air cooler which is slightly smaller and cost less Cooler Master RR-212S-20PC-R1 Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition CPU Air Cooler.

However even that will limit the board so a water cooling radiator can be great here setting it on the upper case panel instead of around the CPU. there is a nice deal for this one: Antec Mercury RGB 240 Cooler

Your Opinion?

Thanks again.

A 550w is doable, however a 650w power supply is recommended. The only reason I say that is because i'm running a gtx 1080 ti duke on a 550w power supply and it's running fine. You don't know what power requirements you'll need in the future. What do you mean by limit the motherboard?

How's that? I may consider it.. ntec HCG650 Gold Power Supply 650 Watts 80 PLUS Gold PSU or Antec EarthWatts Gold Pro 650W Power Supply 650 Watt 80 Plus Gold PSU with 120mm Silent Which one is better?
As for the CPU cooler I meant that's it's occupying a very huge area around the CPU and in mATX borads it's resulting in limiting some slots such as RAM. The water pump is relatively small and the radiator can sit on the front or top case pannels.
I think Antec Mercury RGB 240 Cooler is quite nice just want to make sure it will fit in the front panel of the H400 and that it can handle OC.
I'm open minded though if you can reccomend a compact CPU air cooler which can still do the job.

Thanks!

The cryorig universal would be overkill for the 3600. The white top would match the nzxt color theme and univeral meaning slim 140mm fan so no memory dimms will be blocked. This cpu cooler would most likely out perform any 120mm AIO. If you're going with a 2 x 8gb kit of memory you'd have to populate dimms 2 & 4 anyways so the likelihood of you blocking ram would be slim to none regarding most aftermarket air coolers. Air coolers that would block dimm slots 2 & 4 are geared for high end processors like the i9 9900k, costing $100+ and wouldn't be a realistic/reasonable paring with the R5 3600 because of it's lower TDP. For power supplies I usually stick to gold certified Seasonic & EVGA.

are you refering to this? https://www.amazon.com/Cryorig-Ulti...&s=gateway&sprefix=Cryorig+uni,aps,277&sr=8-3

I can get this one Seasonic FOCUS Plus 650 Gold SSR-650FX 650W but it's $20 more than the Antec HCG650 Gold Power Supply 650 Watts 80 PLUS Gold PSU which is fully modular. is it really that of a difference in quality?

I just read an article stating Antec is also made by Seasonic. I'm sure you'd be fine with either power supply. The Cryorig Universal is different from the Ultimate because it has a slim fan for memory clearance and a white face plate to match your case.

Thanks for the info mate. I'll go for either Antec HCG650 Gold Power Supply 650 Watts 80 PLUS Gold PSU or Antec EarthWatts Gold Pro 650W Power Supply 650 Watt 80 Plus Gold PSU with 120mm Silent. which one would you got for? the first is fully modular however the last is more stealther.

The universal looks decet although it is not that small if you refer to the one with the two fans. this way or the other I don't have access to this brand.
Here is a hard one regarding the case (aesthetics only).. for the same price I can either get the NZTX H400 for which color combination i want to (I personally up for the red/black which will suit the motherboard) or the H400I but only with the blue/black combo. For now I'd like to have purple/white or light blue LED layout which will suit it better iyo?

The hg650 is a newer model and comes with a 10 year warranty. That would be my choice. Did you say you can purchase a Cooler Master 212 black edition? That would be a perfectly adequate CPU cooler for the 3600.

That makes sense :)
Yes I can get Cooler Master RR-212S-20PC-R1 Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition CPU Air Cooler and for a nice price. I was just worried it would over take space on my board compared to the Antec Mercury RGB 240 Cooler which is also more quiet and can be placed on the front pannel to forget about, its price is double though. I'm finding it hard to decide which one is really the best for moderate OC regarding price/benefit.
