Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade from my r5 1600 to an r5 3600 to eliminate a lot of bottleneck, how would I fair?

I've seen on YouTube that even with a 3080, a 3600 can keep up...

What do you guys thing of this upgrade, I understand ryzen 5000 is better, but it's quite a bit more expensive here in Australia, and I'd need a new motherboard.
Thanks for reading.

Solution
The Ryzen 3600 would be MILES better than what you have now, and should be completely fine with that graphics card.

You'll likely see anywhere from a 20-30% increase in single core performance, and somewhere along the lines of a 35-45% increase in multithreaded performance. In some games or applications the performance increase might even be moderately higher than that.

Obviously the 5000 series would be the better upgrade, but since they are largely not available and are unrealistically expensive even when they are, it's just not a great option at the moment. Even the 3500x might be a good choice, and that's about another 40 bucks cheaper than the 3600 in your market. Slightly less performance, but still much better than what you...

You'll need to update your BIOS though, if you've never updated it previously.

I wanted to get a 6800 to go with my 3600 based system but I had to settle for a 3070 as it was the only thing available. I guess it does depend a bit on your screen resolution, 1080p will be more cpu limited maybe.
