Hey Guys,

I'm running system with these CPU and MOBO (R5 7600X and AS Rock X670E Pro RS), my question is related to PCIe lanes. There is a spreadsheet but i don't understand it so looking for experienced guys to explain if possible so i know what they mean.

here is the link, mobo link.

CPU support 28 lanes PCIe 5.0 which 4 are reserved for chipset which lefts us with 24 lanes? 16 goes to GPU and 8 left for M.2 NVMEs? for example the MOBO support one PCIe 5.0 SSDs that is on the CPU which and 3 PCIe 4.0 (1 on cpu, 2 on chipset). if i put second ssd PCIe 4.0 on CPU slot will it lower the bandwidth of GPU from x16 to x8 lanes?

i'm planning to buy second nvme ssd so i want to know where to install it? to a slot on chipset or cpu?

Looking through the manual, page 11, you should see a block diagram, the M.2 slots that are wired to the CPU aren't shared, so you can have the second SSD retrofitted with a PCIe4.0x4 SSD.

M2_4 is the only slot on the board that will operate at a max speed of PCIe3.0x2, per your motherboard's spec sheet(in the manual). Just an FYI, I noticed a pattern, ASRock names all PCIe4.0x4 slots as Hyper M.2 slots while slots with PCIe 5.0x5 are Blazing M.2 slots. Slots that aren't named with anything fancy support SATA or PCIe3.0 based SSD's.

Moved thread from CPUs section to Motherboards section

if i can read correctly from the page 11 that means M2_1 and M2_2 are bound directly to the CPU lanes, rest are on the chipset?
  1. M2_1 is PCIe 5.0
  2. M2_2 is PCIe 4.0
and non of them will lower GPU performance (use/lower GPU PCIe lanes)
