Hi there

CPU: AMD Phenom ii X6 1035T Edition 2.6Ghz towards 3.1 Ghz Turboclock
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 240 2GB

I play games like BF4 and GTA 5 and many more even black ops 2 & 3 but i have seriously huge frame drops they go from 45 towards 20 or less en its only for maybe a split second but its very annoying if you are gaming!. but the weirdest thing is my previous card Radeon HD 5570 i played the same games but there i had stable fps maybe 5 to 10 fps loss sometimes but that wasn't noticeable true Eyes!. but with this brand new 2 weeks old R7 240 card its noticeable cause its dropping 20 to 25 fps.

What can i do to reduce this drops or make it more stable?
PS: Its PCI-Express 3.0 16x but i checked gpu-z it sats PCI-Express 8x why isnt it using 16?

I have the latest Drivers installed but is it maybe my OS? Windows 10 cause the card is optimized for Windows 8.1.

Please help me

Greetings Ricardo

your welcome just a "if you can" if you can return the 240 i would highly recommend getting a r7 250 because it is faster than both those cards by a lot and can run the games you want stably...
You made a nearly sideways move going from the HD 5570 to the R7-240. [strike]Maybe even a bit backwards[/strike]: [strike]http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Radeon-HD-5570-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-GT-240/m7686vsm7947[/strike]
Here, Tom's ranks them in the same tier: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html
Not much of an improvement.

Edit:
Epicness937 pointed out that I had the wrong link above. My apologies. This is the correct link:

i see people with the same card and they perform better than my but my card is using PCI-E x8 instead of what he does need PCI-E x16 i think the card is damaged from the factory so its a rotten apple i can sent it back to where it belongs but maybe i can try to put it in a different computer to test if it isnt the card maybe its the computer?

I Fresh installed windows!

its not much of an upgrade but i needed more VRAM so i can play games that require 2gb vram to play but even the Radeon 5570 was more stable than this one

Were the others playing as the same screen resolution as you? Same settings?
Neither the R7-240 nor the HD 5570 have enough GPU horsepower to utilize more than 1GB of VRAM. So don't waste your money on more VRAM with low end cards. If you want to be sure your PC is clean of junk that may be holding you back, disable as much stuff starting with Win as possible. Look in your tray for stuff running in the background and disable as much as possible when gaming. Run CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry portions both to get rid of a lot of resource-wasting crap that may be slowing down your PC: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Be sure to keep your virus pgm updated and run a full virus scan. Also run Malwarebyes to get rid of malware that may be dragging down performance. https://www.malwarebytes.org/

you posted a link to the gt 240 not the r7 240
now that r7 240 is not really much of a upgrade its only real advantage over the 5570 is that it has 2gb vram which is not too much as the card is not really fast enough to use all that vram
cause of frame drops could be old drivers it could also be the cpu that is very weak or unstably overclocked now in games it is somewhat normal to not have high stable fps but 20-25 fps drops are not really normal i would try un-updating to windows 8.1 and see if that helps

Thats true but its weird that a older card HD 5570 1gb had more stable fps as the Radeon R7 240

but yesterday i pulled the card out and put it back in! and since than i have it more stable its losing 5 to 10fps sometimes but it is not noticeable. I Also Deleted all Drivers with DriverUnistaller and now the correct drivers are installed!. I hope it stays this way but i think so yes!. I bought the R7 240 only because of its 2GB VRAM so i could play Just Cause 3, StarWars Battlefront etc.

Many thanks for responses and thanks for the help!.

Thanks i will keep it in mind im going to order the R7 250 Today! i was already thinking about it but i thought it was just the same! as the R7 240 but if i see its performance i like the r7 250 more!

yes i had a r7 250 it is much more powerful than the r7 240 when it comes to games really because a r7 240 is not really for games and just hd videos but yeah the r7 250 is a great entry level card hope it works :)
