I have an r9 290 which I use for 1080p gaming and it holds up apart from ashes of the singularity and Dishonored 2 where I cant get max settings with it. Is it worth upgrading to a 1070?

My specs:
Ryzen 5 1600 @4ghz
16 GB corsair vengeance lpx @2933
Aorus as 370 gaming k5
Thanks

You can expect about 45% to 50% higher FPS on average. Whether or not that is worth it to you. That depends on your priorities.

Ignore the synthetic benchmarks in the link. Just look at game FPS.

Consider the GTX 1080. You are looking at spending at $450 in the US for a dual fan GTX 1070. For about $550 you can get the GeForce GTX 1080. Which is 20% faster than the 1070 and around 90% faster than the R9 290.
You are looking at about a 70% increase in frame rates if you're comparing "out of the box performance.

Please don't spread false information. The graphic above is not a synthetic benchmark. Techpowerup used 15 games in it's test suite and the fps numbers are averaged together to provide a summary based upon all 15 games..

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1070_Gaming_X/24.html

This page shows a combined performance summary of all the tests [15 game test suite] on previous pages, broken down by resolution. Each chart shows the tested card as 100% and every other card's performance as relative to it.

Pease don't jump to conclusions. If I was referring to your post. I would have quoted it.

I wasn't referring to your post. I was working on mine when you wrote yours and wasn't aware of its existence. I was referring to the synthetic results within the benchmarks I linked.

I did tell the op not to look at the synthetics in the link. I don't know what wasn't clear or how that was misinterpreted.
