I have a i5-760 attached to a Biostar T5XE mother board (fully updated). Cosair 750 TX powersupply

I just installed a Visiontek r9 290X this morning and when i try to load games it juts goes black and shuts down the monitor.

I first tried the Uniengine Heaven Benchmark, it fired up and as the GPU fans started to spin it went black and shut down the monitor.

I also tried to play Diablo 3, same thing. I have the latest drivers. Is it a bad card? Need a new Mobo and CPU? Which i do plan on getting in a couple weeks. Bad drivers?

Any help?

Solution

Uninstall your previous GPU drivers and then reinstall your r9 drivers.
I had that problem with i swapped to a new 560ti from my previous ASUS version.

Btw you have my old CPU, and dude that cpu can be a bit of a bottle neck in cpu intensive games. ofc its fine for most, but if i were you i would consider a cpu as your next upgrade.
