Bought an r9 290X off ebay to try to repair, the guy said there would be display, but showing code 43 on drivers. I received the card and found there was no thermal paste, and when I applied some paste, there was no display, the system would boot with a single beep, but show no post. Is it possible that the previous owner tried to boot up the card with no thermal paste? And how could I repair this, any ideas? I might try gpu reflow, you know when you just chuck a hairdryer or a heat gun to heat up the die for a while, you recon that could work? Also upon further inspection, the cooler is horrible, its an Asus Direct CU II cooler, and the copper plate isn't flat, and there are inconsistencies in terms of contact for the plate and the gpu.

My system works with another graphics card so the gpu is the only problem, and I have a 700W power supply, so I doubt that's the problem.
