Radeon HD 6850 question

I'm currently ordering parts to build my second build(its been atleast 5 years since my first)
I've been looking at different video cards, the best bang for my buck seems like the 6850.
The 6850 is a PCIe 2.1 x16 does that mean a mobo that supports PCIe 2.0 x16 will not work with this video card? I've been looking any many different mobos and havent seen any labeled PCIe 2.1

the 6850 will work with PCIe 2.0 or 1.0 16x slots
