Radeon HD 6870 mac compatibility with AE6

I have just installed an MSI Radeon HD 6870 2gig card into my macpro early 2008.

I'm running AE6 which does not support my card... Is there anyway around this?
I would really like to take advantage of this card s GPU in AE.

Any help would be great thanks!

Sorry but no. AE6 doesn't benefit hardly at all from GPU acceleration in the first place. The only advantage the GPU can bring is to accelerate the 3D ray tracing renderer, and that's only supported on nVidia cards. If I'm not mistaken, Premiere Pro is the only application that sees a large benefit from the GPU with CUDA acceleration.
And as CUDA is the computing engine in the GPU, no AMD support.
