Should I buy the Radeon HD 6850 now or wait for the 78xx?

When are the 7xxx cards going to be released and with what price/features?

thank you

That's up to you. It looks like the HD 7000 series will be released by the end of 2011 or early 2012. See the following:

http://lenzfire.com/2011/08/powercolor-finalizes-amd-radeon-hd-7000-series-release-date-92246/

What card do you have now? Do you have a decent power supply capable of handling the load of a high end card?

If you want something now then get a 6850. You know that the 7000 series cards are made on a new process which means they will be in even shorter supply than if they were made on a previously used process and they will be priced a bit high until supply is good enough to lower the price to a level that more appropriately reflects performance.

+1 if you are always waiting for something better, then you will always be waiting

you are realistically looking at about 6-8 months before next round of cards come out,, AMD is currently ramping up its bulldozer release.. if you want to play your games now, buy now,, if you can wait, then wait...

when the 460GTX came out, I jumped on it and am still happy to this day,,, i don't care something newer is out.

Long as its a good psu that card will be mre than enough for a good while. I have one on a spare rig with an athlon x4 and an earthwatts 380, and its been doing just fine, even if I'm kinda nudging the peak continuious output for such a setup.

Before you do anything else, you want to upgrade your PSU.. like big time..

Logisys is not a good PSU brand, which means that their advertised 480W probably can only output around 350w on a good day. More importantly, the 12v rail you have listed running at 16A is what powers your card. This means that 12v x 16a = 192W. That is the MAXIMUM power that psu can give your graphics card.. and that is certainly not enough to power a modern card..

Get a new PSU before you get anything else. If you create a new account on newegg, you can put in this code "NEWCUSTOMER10" and get $10 off.. so I would suggest one of these psu's for you to get..

or similar from quality brands (OCZ, Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, ect.)

There is a reason that IROC does not stand for "International Race Of Champions" ...
