radeon r9 270 how to connect?

Have a Thunder v2 735w psu with 2 8pin slots open(modular). The radeon has 2 6pin connectors on it. Now, the part I plug into the psu is 8pin and each cable has 2 6pin connectors on the ends. Can I plug both 6pins from one cable? Or is it safer to plug both 8pins into the psu and connect a single 6pin from each?
Example:
One wire
Psu <8------------>6pin vcard----->6pin vcard

Or two:
Psu<8----->6 (unused)----- >6vcard
<8------>6 (unused)------->6 vcard

For that card, you can do it either way. One cable with 2 x 6 pin connectors is fine.
