Hello,

I am about to buy my new GPU, so I was wondering which one should I get? In my country, both of them are around 550$, so I don't know which one should I go for.

My system:

Motherboard: ASR-P67 PRO3
CPU: Intel Core i5 2400
RAM: 12GB
PSU: Corsair 600W
Current GPU: Zotac GTX470

Thanks in advance 😀

R9 290 is definitively faster. but it is much louder, to the point where it can be unbearable to most people unless you're using a headset.

If I were you I would wait a few weeks to see if R9 290s with better cooling solutions would come out

Thanks for responding so quickly.

First of all, I kind of don't mind the sound as I am always using the headset, but I don't really have time to wait for 290s as I sold my old card today and I can't use my pc (currently on phone). One more question, is my CPU good enough for this card? I mean, won't it decrease the overall performance?

to be honest a gtx 770 is about the best your CPU can do, and it is overall a more 'elegant' card. but I generally like to get the fastest piece of tech available when I'm buying just so that it's one thing out of my mind the next time I upgrade. what I mean is that while you'll CPU will hold you back a lil bit now, you can always upgrade that in a year or two without worrying about the GPU.

If you are going for R9 290, make sure your PSU is atleast Bronze Certified (80+ efficiency), 'cause the R9 290 is a killer card but as per the Specs from resellers it eats like anything.

PS: I am also planning to buy R9 290 :bounce:
