I just finished building my first computer and everything has been working fine other than the graphics card. I have both 6 pins connected to the power supply, and when I boot my computer the msi logo lights up, so I thought it was working. However when I check the devices I'm the control panel, the only thing that appears under the display drivers is Intel HD drivers. I've tried going into my BIOS to find how to fix the problem, but I couldn't find anything related to the graphics card. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Do you see the card in the bios?
Is the monitor connected to the graphic card's display outputs, not the motherboard?

I installed the drivers and everything I thought was needed. I cannot find where the graphics card would be in my bios, I've only found something for integrated graphics. Also my monitor is connected to the motherboard currently, will I have to plug it into the graphics card instead?

LOL yes, if you have a GPU installed you have to connect it to the GPU, if you connect it to the motherboard, it will only use the onboard graphics.

yes sir!!! Thats your problem. You are using your integrated GC now.

So plug your monitor in your GC!!!

That will solve your problem!

Yes to fully utilise your graphic card, the monitor should be connected to the graphic card.

Wow I feel like an idiot lol. Thanks, I have one last question. Where exactly do I connect the monitor to the gpu? The cable I had connected to the motherboard doesn't have a place to connect to the gpu. Will I need an hdmi or will I have to buy a different cable to fit into the dvi ports?

What is your monitor? You can get a new cable or an adapter such as a DVI to VGA if you using a VGA monitor.
You connect to any of the display ports on the graphic card.

What connects do you have on your monitor. Most monitors should have a mixture of HDMI, DVI and VGA, Display ports are usually found in the more high end Monitors.

Most of today's GPU comes with DVI, HDMI and Display Ports.

My moniter seems to only have the regular connector that I had plugged into my motherboard and an hdmi port. My gpu has dvi, hdmi, and a port I'm not too sure about, but has a P logo beside it. Since my moniter only has the regular port and hdmi, will I have to use an HDMI cable, and disconnect the regular cord I had connected to the motherboard completely?

You don't have to disconnect the cable to your mother board, but you could. Your monitor should have a button that lets you choose between the input signal (VGA or HDMI).

And yes you will need to get an HDMI cable, normally i have like 4 or 5 extra HDMI cables in my house because pretty much every from computers to TVs requires them now and they are cheap too.

Unplug the VGA cable. Use only the HDMI.

You gonna have to try to diagnose this.
Try taking out the R9 380 and reinserting it.
If you have another pcie x16 slot to use, test if it works there.
Try to clear CMOS.
What's your pc build?

Here's my build.
CPU: Intel I5 4690k
CPU cooler: corsair H100i GTX
Motherboard: msi z97 gaming 5
Ram: G.skill ripjaws x series ddr3 1600 4 GB (4 sticks, 16GB total)
Storage: Western digital caviar blue 1 TB 7200 RPM
GPU: MSI radeon r9 380 4 GB
Power supply: evga supernova NEX 650W 80 + Gold fully modular
Case: NZXT s340.

I've checked everything out and it's all compatible. Everything has been working flawlessly until I figured out my GPU wasn't completely installed. I'm more than certain I have everything installed properly on the gpu. Both 6 pins are connected to the power supply, it's connected to the 16 pin properly, it's lighting up like it's on and working fine, but it's not showing up anywhere, and the hdmi I just installed apparently has no signal. I'm very confused.

Try the second pcie x16 slot, see if you get a display.
Try using another pcie cable from your psu.

Thank you for the help. I think I got it to work. I unplugged everything on the gpu and the gpu itself, plugged everything back in, and the hdmi input worked flawlessly. Thank you again, I would have been working on that thing all week if I didn't come here lol.

Good to know. You also need drivers for your R9 380.
