Hi,

Had my PC for over a year now with no problems then few days ago I updated the graphics card drivers to latest and Radeon Software opened after install however strangely I get this error message today when opening Radeon Software:

"Radeon Software and Driver versions do not match. Please try again after updating to the latest version(s)."

But I have updated to the latest version 😕

What's the best known fix for this?

Solution
Its this GPU:

https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07STGHZK8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

AMD Ryzen 3 3200G

Any known issues with my GPU?

How do I DDU?

Display Driver Uninstaller software. This software is specifically for removing display drivers (hence the name) and any related software/registries, and has multiple options depending on what you're doing.
I'd try DDU (in safe mode) with the option normal uninstall first, and see how it goes. Clean uninstall is usually for changing GPU brands (AMD to Nvidia, and vice versa) since it's a tad more risky. I suggest doing so only if you see no change from normal uninstall.

I downloaded the official WHQL drivers...

What GPU is this? I remember the Navi gen always having problems one or another with various revisions of the drivers. A good driver on one PC isn't always good on another. Really boils down to trial and error.

You can try either DDUing the entire driver and related software to start from scratch, DDU and install older driver where you didn't have that issue. Graphics drivers are janky sometimes, AMD especially so. Nvidia has their own faults, but they're miles ahead of AMD in that department.

you boot to safe mode, run DDU to remove ALL graphics drivers, and on reboot you install new drivers. Apparently you have installed the WRONG drivers.

AMD has a utility that figures out what drivers you need. USE THAT! I have never had one problem in doing so and I also have Vega integrated graphics on my sons laptop and my tiny desktop

go here
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-131

DO NOT just go get drivers meant for the discrete graphics cards (that is probably what you did)

What do you mean discreet graphics cards ?

Why did AMD allow me to download these drivers in the 1st place under their AMD Ryzen 3 3200G page?

Discrete graphics card, as in the kind you slot in onto the motherboard and not integrated to your processor. You have an integrated one.

That said, the graphics processor in your system is just a miniature Vega GPU. Not too dissimilar to the full-fat Vega 56 and 64, just with a whole lotta cores removed.

I believe you downloaded the correct drivers --at least if we're to take AMD's word for it. Sometimes their drivers just do stupid things, but you're on the right track at least.

You should do as other have suggested...uninstall the drivers you have now using DDU, delete your previous driver downloads, and then use the AMD utility to identify which drivers your APU needs. If it gives you the same driver package again no harm no foul.

Discreet graphics cards are stand alone plug in GPUs like the AMD 6800 of nVidia 3070. Integrated graphics are what you have and are part of the CPU in your system.

AMD has no idea what a user has in their system and lets the end user determine what GPU drivers they need as well as providing the utility to identify the proper driver for other users.

From what you've posted it sounds like your driver download may have been corrupted which means you'll need to uninstall and start fresh.

Okay the problem has come back again after a couple of days:

"Radeon Software and Driver versions do not match. Please try again after updating to the latest version(s)."

It was opening fine for the past couple of days then suddenly I get this problem again.

Why is that 😕 ?

Any automatic updates from Crimson software? I turn them off everytime I DDU my drivers while I still had my RX 580.

I had an exact experience with my new laptop, it has 5500u. Well I updated the driver and the radeon software wasn't opening and it made my fans quite loud so I simply downgraded my driver and everything is working fine for me
