Lol, how's Apple going to help OpenGL come back? Oh, that's right... *opens Steam*... there're games for Mac...

I bought Rage for PC on release day and it was a mess. Pretty much unplayable. Went back in a couple of days and after the patch it ran properly. The game does look great and runs well (now), but overall it was a disappointment. There were flashes of greatness (the hospital level), but it felt too empty, linear and didn't even have an ending. Obvious signs of a rushed and unpolished release which was only released on PC as an afterthought. I won't buy another ID release blindly again.

Want to kill your product ,start by attracting co ownership, marketing and investment into the mix.

sic: More specifically, the unstable launch has reportedly demonstrated to Zenimax and Bethesda "a serious lack of confidence in the project management at id."

blech..I can smell the suit stench from here.

You know what I find amazing about this fiasco? IF this were Crysis everyone would be saying that it's because you have to have a fast PC to play it (and GPU of course). And now, if you want to play Rage, you need a fast GPU (sorry your 2 year old GPU is not fast in today's terms) and just like it is with Crysis, ATI drivers blow. ALways have always will. YOu want thing done right, you buy NVidia, end of story.

[citation][nom]dark_knight33[/nom]Hypocrite.Rage didn't make it on my buy list this quarter, not because I didn't want it, but because the money just wasn't there. I got a great deal with steam sales, and spent the same amount buying 3-4 games from last year that I'm still playing. I'll probably pick up RAGE on sale next year as well, no hurry at this point.Yeah, I could have "demo'd" it, but at least I'm not adding to the problem that created this in the first place (PC game piracy), and even worse, acting like I'm above it all.Piracy is hardly the death-knell PC game publishers would have you believe, but the fact of the matter is, perception is reality. However, I believe *they* (i.e. developers) believe it's a real problem, and that is the reason RAGE works well on consoles and NOT on PC. Think about that the next time you feel all self-righteous when hitting up TPB for the latest game.FYI, Steam issued refunds over this fiasco. It was a no risk purchase if you bought it from them, you have no excuse.[/citation]

I too wait for the bargain bin, although it is usually the 2-3 year version for $9.99. I can also build a new low end PC or upgrade the current one to that eras high end specs if needed. It's a lot cheaper all the way around. I let others pay full price to do the beta testing.

Its sad how pathetic Id has turned out to be in recent years. Just another company trying to make money with consoles. Completely turned their backs on true followers. Have completely lost faith in them. They are not worthy. I've been reading this all over the net ever since the epic fail on rage. If I was the bankroll for their next game I would pull the plug too. Would'nt be suprised if they went out of business in the near future.

Zenimax media is the perfect example of morons running a business.

Here they have the two halves to a perfect development team. Id is awesome at the technical side of things, but sucks at making content. Bethesda is great at making content, and they suck ass at making a technically sound game.

The answer here is obvious to me. Combine the two. Duh.

Bah, the texture issues were not that big of a deal. New drivers for GPu and problem solved.
However i have to say the game is extreamly shitty by my standards and i am happy i have not bought it.
After great games like Stalker Shadow of chernobyl, Metro 2033, Crysis 1, Dead space, Bioshock 1 and 2... Rage simply does not cut it.

release yet everyone loved it for it. Those mods and work arounds made the game great yet I'd do it and you call for blood!? Has the PC modding community gone soft? Yes games are more console centric and yes one of the greats has sold out but tbh looking at the bigger picture, I'd rather have that and the possibility of a new doom game than them failing to adapt and perish due to ignoring where the actually income for them to survive will come from. Yes PC games are mainly ports but PC still shines since they can be modded to hell and no crappy controller for fps games. Look at Oblivion, you can be bottlenecked into playing it out of the box or download new textures and items, rejig the leveling system or even create new areas! You'll never get that on consoles. Maybe ports are a problem cause I swear PC gamers sound more like console tards everyday.

I would like to put in my positive review. Admittedly it took a few minutes of online research, and then I had to create a .cfg file, and then I had to spend an hour tweaking it to my PC's VERY high end specs. Ultimately, RAGE is an awesome shooter (not really a role playing game, and definitely not on the same level as Fallout) well worth playing! It felt very much like the release of Crysis 2 for me, except that it was the multiplayer in Crysis 2 that was HORRIBLE on launch.

There is not enough official support on help to create config files that are good. Using my long time experience in games and graphics I was able to build a DRAMATICALLY better config for my high end PC than I found online in the 'Advanced' sections, LOL. It just took time and effort and made the process feel a little less refined than I have been used to with modern games. I don't like seeing a loss toward PC gamers. I will always stand with my PC over consoles.

Getting past the worst few minutes I am able to say that I am glad I gave RAGE a try, and will be beating the C@#p out of mutants all week long!

VERY beautiful and Kudos to the programmers, please don't be discouraged due to all the nay-saying and slip ups. You haven't received enough praise for the great product that RAGE can be.

[citation][nom]the associate[/nom]Although I do not condone piracy, I "demo'd" the game, as I do to avoid being ripped off by cheap shit half assed games since I have been before...uninstalled and trash can'd.When I can treat a PC game like a PC game, specifically having control over graphics settings, then I will consider it a PC game...til then, I won't even touch it. And honestly, I'm still playing New Vegas, which in my opinion is far more entertaining. To each their own.[/citation]

Did you buy New Vegas, or did you just pirate that one aswell, thief?

If you have to make something the best that you can get it, than you need time to do it. It does not mean though, that it will be the best, but it will be better than what it was.

It worked OK out of the box for me. I didn't like the screen tearing and so the patch made that nicer.

My real complaint with Rage was that it was completely 'on rails' as a game. Where ID needs help is actually developing a compelling story/game which is why I am happy they are part of a larger whole and other studios can use their engines and actually make good games with them.

@amk-aka-phantom

Yes AMD/ATI drivers suck so bad and it is not a troll. As far as i am concerne that company could broke tomorrow i am not going to care.

Since i got Crossfire HD6970 setup pretty much can't play anything normally. Shit are fucking broken all over and argument i get from AMD is oh it is crappy game. Just happens that Fifa 2012, F1 2011, Dungeon Siege 3, Rage soon Crysis 2 be crappy games. Well f. that. list is too big. With new Preview 3 drivers Crysis 2 Crossfire is broken, they probably broken in the process and the thing is that Preview 3 are meant for WHQL. So to play two games i have to switch between two drivers or just forget about Crosscrap cough cough Crossfire. As I said I hope Toms Hardware nails them so bad through review and show real crap AMD/ATI customers have to deal with.

Preview 3 didn't fix Rage...it freezes and stutters randomly. I bet BF3 doesn't run in Crossfire even they released CAP. Some people are already reporting it. AMD/ATI -> Joke
