[citation][nom]eklipz330[/nom]developers have gotten very lazy the past decade. now that they are making more because more people are gaming, they care less because they don't need to put in the same quality of work into a game to reap the same reward.sigh. fuck the system.[/citation]
Please.

There have been buggy games since forever. This is not some recent phenomenon.

That said, how they could have missed this if they did any kind of QC testing at all is mind-boggling. So, you just have to assume they did no QC at all, which is bullcrap.

The game looks interesting, and I might have even given it a purchase, but with such absurd and distracting texture pop-in I'm not interested one bit.

Hopefully the dev "pendulum" will start swinging back toward the PC direction as the XBOX360 and PS3 are obsolete as far as entertainment computing hardware goes.
(I have a PS3 launch 60 that still works and plenty of titles, so don't point the console vs. pc fanboi finger at me).

This is BS. A proper gaming laptop doesn't require you to wait for OEM's drivers. My friend just updated his G73Jh's AMD 5870M drivers a few days ago directly from AMD's website - no problems whatsoever, like usual.

Game Still looks great on my 6850 (1055t..4ghz) with the updated ATI driver. It def still has it's issues graphically...vsync, screen tearing a little bit and slight texture issues occasionally, but it's a HELL OF A GAME!!

It's certainly better than the crap that Crytech took on pc gamers when Crysis 2 was released. THAT was a nightmare for ATI and Nvidia gamers running more than one card and it had a ton of issues.

Bottom line is these devs don't give a shit about pc gamers...FML

There is no such thing as a "proper gaming laptop". Gaming laptops all crap for crap kids who play crap and they can go to hell. If I see a kid playing on a laptop, I'm gonna kick it away from him.

You're absolutely full of $h!t. Gaming laptops are for people who are on the move a lot. I'd get one, because I often travel, but they're too overpriced in my country. I'm happier with a desktop, because it's upgradeable and more powerful for the same price, but I would never refuse to get a gaming laptop if I had the cash - you probably don't know what it's like, that's all. Gaming laptops are beautiful machines and they kick ass in all other tasks. Asus G-series is the best value for money, together with MSI gaming laptops.

It's none of your business what kids play and if you ever do what you said, there're legal consequences to follow :kaola: You can consider me a "kid", too, because many titles I play don't require a $2000 desktop to max out (I'm more about the storyline) and would play fine on something like an Asus G73/G53 or a similar MSI/Sager laptop, and I totally don't give a $h!t whether you like the games I play or not - there's a user base for these machines, and they don't care about your preferences.

let me point out that i don't get new drivers for amd or nvidia until it was needed, as if its not broke dont fix it.

until recently i was on catalist 10.3 i believe, and i upgraded to the newest one... don't know number.

the upgrade was so i could check out webgl stuff, as it is interesting to me.

but it broke a program i use, acdsee8 and pro4. its a known error with any amd driver passed 10.8 i believe, amd told me roll back, and wouldn't tell me crap about plans to fix it or tell me if anyone was even aware of the problem. because i found a work around (have task manager open but as far off screen as i can get it) i wont be "upgrading" again unless the problem is specifically addressed.

now that that rant is out of the way. this is a problem that only people who want "TEH BEST GRAPHIX" would call an unplayable problem...

saves corrupting - unplayable problem
random, frequent crashes - unplayable problem
ai suddenly freezing for no reason you an find, and often (hl2 for me) - unplayable problem

textures poping in - annoying, but not unplayable
screen tearing - i never notice it but know what it is, not unplayable.

i second what phantom said, if your "gaming laptop" cant run the driver from NVIDIA/ATI themselves then what you got is a POS. no other way of putting it, it was your fault for not doing the correct research.

i have seen the asus and gigabyte series ATM, and both the laptops VGA are from nvidia/ATI always. so dont rant about your own dilemma

Its called BAD QA didn't they catch this before release it not hardware fault but poor QA team that just didn't do their job or there was no QA team at all which bad VERY BAD.

[citation][nom]Flamango[/nom]I don't remember any problems with Deus Ex?[/citation]
It had stuttering issues but was patched like a month later.

What did you expect, for a game that is optimised for a console that only has 256MB of RAM

[citation][nom]clonazepam[/nom]Forgot to add, I'll wait for the demo. From http://www.rage.com/us/extrasMaybe they focused too much on.... ?[/citation]

CONSOLES!

I told everyone that this was made for consoles and ported over to PC and many people lashed out at me.

I'm glad I canceled my pre-order. What a shame.

Its not just the pc having problems its on ALL platforms

PS3: sound problems,texture lag,downloadable content issues,install issues,full screen issues, crashing problems.

xbox360: crosshair drift,dlc issues,updating issues,low res texture pop in,freezing problems.

where was QA?

now this comment is just insulting , dev's haven';t gotten lazier , what has occured is that publisher's have gotten greedier , remember publishers control deadlines usually , niot the devs ., and they put increasing pressure on dev's to product products on schedule regardless ofit's possible bugs. in this case i'm guess Q&A got cut to meet the dead line , but i can guarantee you the dev's were likely pulling 16 hr shifts by the end of production on this.

Devs are being lazy and complacent. They are watching upper management ruin the product(s), and sit idly by because they get paid enough to shut up and do as commanded. Many of them have husbands/wives and children. They'd rather watch their industry fold up and disappear over the course of a few years to a decade, than risk everything today to have something done right. Somebody needs to find a few and let 'em blow the whistle loud and hard and create a lot of negative press to make it onto CNN right after Anderson Cooper kisses his little Apple piece of news. They should all gang together, organize a walkout, and do a Million Nerd March along Wall St. or Pennsylvania Ave.

I have the game installed on ssd and it seems to load much faster than those videos you guys posted. Although much faster, the loading of the textures are still noticeable.

Turns out rage is basically borderlands with fallout design levels and graphics. You use a car to get from point a to point b plus some fighting on the way, you have a couple of main hubs that you work from, and its an action/rpg/fps game. So if you want a longer experience that runs smoother go play either fallout or borderlands (hell borderlands has over a million guns to choose from).

Maybe they already knew the issue (texture) and just ignored it hoping the gamers wouldn't mind. Too bad. When you hype your game to be "awesome" and you don't deliver... this shit happens.

Let's pray this is just a driver/coding problem. If this needs lower texture quality patch (OMFG 4gb+ texture) there'd be hell to pay.
