I don't understand few things about RAID 0. Does it help only when you have more then 1 hard drive? i understand that threr are few disks in a hard drive. I have 30Gb Maxtor Diamond 7200rpm and ata/100, my A7V doesn't support RAID 0. Will performance and speed of my hard drive, loadings and avings be faster? Is there a PCI RAID 0 card I can buy?

You need 2 hard disks to run RAID 0.

Basically the RAID controller splits each file in half and stores half on each hard disk. Then access times half because both hard disks are looking for the same thing at the same time and the transfer speed doubles because 2 hard drives are transmitting at the same time. That is the theory, in practice the benefits are not as big but generally noticeable.

To set up an array you will need an identical drive to the one you have and a RAID controller, Promise make the best IDE ones.
