The new IAA actually has a help file this time - it is brief, comprehensive
& to the point.
To make full use of the V4.1 IAA, one needs that latest ICH6R (with dual
raid ability, matrix, hot standby facility) which is only on the new LGA
family mobos. Existing bios version and driver version will be out of synch
with the capabilities of the new IAA, but this does not matter as it detects
the bios (IE raid firmware) version and driver version and adapts its
capabilities to the combination. The System Report now gives an item and
version break down of all components of the RAID system - you now have no
doubt about the bios version support, driver version etc.
I have installed the IAA to see if there were any advancement on alert
capabilities IE email, pager, or anything else, but alas it still only has a
flashing task bar icon with a balloon popup.
According to the documentation, the Windows 2003 Server support is for the
Intel 6300ESB Serial ATA RAID Controller only unfortunately.
May be next time.
