Question RAM being pushed by CPU cooling.

Just bought new ram,.and have found that my fan pushes on it causing a slight bend? Is this bad? The CPU fan look as though it was already raised by the initial builders of my PC as I paid someone else to build it. Help needed.

It's not good, but it's anyone's guess if you can get away with it long-term.

You might be able to raise that fan even more to provide more clearance. Looks like 3/8 of an inch would be enough.

Or exchange the RAM for lower profile RAM if that isn't what you already have.

That's probably a fan of 25mm thickness. You might be able to get a suitable narrower replacement that would clear the existing RAM.

I can't see a way to do it lol it's all very tightly fit with screws and stuff, plus it's already a little raised., not sure if maybe I just use it and keep an eye on the temps and performance, or if I go back to my old ram and attempt to send this ram back so I can purchase low profile ram instead

I don't have a guide.

You might be able to figure it out on your own with a closer examination.

How tall is that RAM? I think you can get RAM down near 33 mm, which is about 1.3 inches.

See above comment about a slimmer fan that would not crowd the RAM regardless of RAM height.

I think I'm going to use it as is, if it hurts in the long term I can always change it later when I have more money. All the connections are there at least, hopefully it's ok

Clarify:

Has this new RAM ever worked correctly?

Or did you get the black screen the very first time you attempted to boot?

What happens if you remove the bent stick and attempt to boot with just one stick?

Too bad you don't have 4 RAM slots and could just move both.

If you paid someone to build that you should ask for your money back, or insist that they sort it out for you.
