Hi,

So I'm attempting my first build and chose to build around the Ryzen 5 1600 CPU. I would like to use the Asus B350-F Gaming Mobo with it and a GTX 1070 card if I have the cash, if not it will be a GTX 1060.
I was planning to use Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200 ram (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820236038&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&ignorebbr=1&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo) for it since I've seen it used in builds along with Ryzen chips on youtube, and it just so happens to be on sale right now. When I brought up the motherboard QVL I don't see this listed in the 3200+ section. It lists the same ram at 3600 though which is odd. The list actually doesn't show much ram in the 3200 16GB section. Am I missing something, is this ram really not compatible? If not does anyone have any suggestions of good ram to use? I've read something about Ryzen being picky with ram and if it is made from Hynix instead of Samsung it wont be compatible.

Here's a link to the QVL list I was referring to http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/STRIX_B350-F_GAMING/ROG_STRIX_B350-F_GAMING_Memory_QVL_20170519.pdf?_ga=2.205582353.329936003.1496830631-1995554391.1496830631)

Thanks,

Ryzen seems to be a bit more picky about ram compatibility than Intel.
The QVL lists only show ram that has been tested initially.
For more options, go to a ram vendor web site and access their ram selection app.
Enter your motherboard and you will get a list of supported kits.

If you ever should have a problem, you will get support from that vendor.
Otherwise you will have a finger pointing exchange, saying not my problem.

I went to the Corsair website and it doesn't even list any B350 motherboards in the ram selection app

I am surprised.
But, I can't find that motherboard either on various ram finder apps.

My suggestion is to pick a suitable kit from the QVL list.
It looks like they are supporting 4 stick kits even though only dual channel is supported.
I do not know why.
You might want to send an inquiry to Corsair; their support is very good.
If you should ever have a problem, you will want support.

Thanks again Vapour! I keep flip flopping on the MOBO I want to use. I was set on this Strix b350-F but after researching RAM I started to doubt the decision as there seemed to be some RAM compatibility issues. I'll go with the G.Skill - Ripsaws like you say! Thanks

Thanks Geofelt! I went ahead and ordered the MOBO because its on sale right now and has really good reviews. I think that since it is a newer board it might not have as much support, but I've been reading that there's been BIOS updates that have made it more compatible with more updates expected. Good advice though I will contact Corsair and G.Skill and inquire about support.

I have almost the same build but a different motherboard and everything was supported even though my board said that that particularly ram speed wasn't. It totally worked. I used a Tiachi though.
