Ram cpu fan output issue

i have two ram chips .5gb if theyre both in i get no picture or cpu fan with one or the other i get pic or fan but never both at the same time any ideas?

One of your RAM modules is bad.

Run "memtest86" on them, ONE module at a time. When you replace RAM use identical modules.
