Ram for ASUS P5G41T-M LX

Hello,

I recently bought some OCZ DDR3 1066Mhz Gold CL7 (2Gb x2) and discovered both sticks were faulty. After much reading, apparently that model of OCZ is known to have issues, so I'd rather be reimbursed and buy something better. Preferably 45 euros/£40 or under (I live in France so shipping from UK would have to be cheap to make it worth my while)

The QVL for my board seems pretty out of date, many models not even being sold anymore. The board supports DDR3 1333Mhz but I'm not sure which ram would be the best?

My Spec:

C2D Q6600 2.4Ghz
Nvidia 8800GTX (768Mb)
ASUS P5G41T-M LX (1333/1066Mhz FSB, 800/1066/1333(O.C) DDR3 8Gb max.)
Windows 7 64bit

I'm mostly using the system for gaming and photo-editing, so I need 4Gb minimum. I'm also planning on upgrading everything in 6-12 months, so getting something faster than 1333Mhz to underclock in the meantime might be best.

I use gskill and kingston; 1600 and 1333. I've had no issues with either brand, and both will run at 1600.

I read a Tom's article (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/dual-channel-ram-ddr3-4gb,2618-8.html) stating that the crucial DDR3 PC3-10666 value ram was excellent for overclocking, compared to some PC3-1600/2000 ram.

Anyway, I think I'm going to go with G.Skill Ripjaws X PC3-10666 8Gb (2x4Gb) because it's a great price, a lot of positive comments about it, should overclock later when needed and 8Gb ram will probably help out my aging 8800gtx lol

This should work alright in a G41 chipset, right? The motherboard supports 1333 (sadly the QVL is rather old so nearly all the ram seems to be listed as 10600 or 10600/10666)

Any thoughts? Is there a better 8Gb ram I should consider?

No. Most ram in a given price category has identical timings for various brands.

The G41 supports 1333, to run 1600 will require an OC of the FSB to 1600 which may or may not work with that chipset, the P45 was the most reliable for running 1600 and up, it will also OC your CPU to 3.6 which can be lowered by dropping the multiplier, . Unless same price would suggest 1333

this ram, but my motherboard is not booting up when i am inserting the ram , i am still using my old Zion 2x2GB ram to write this, i bought them and now i want to use them , please help me 🙁
