[SOLVED] ram frequency

my ram is rated to run at 3200mhz but when ever i try to change it in the bios and reset my pc i get an error screen that says "your memory settings have been reset due to failure to boot" and sets my ram speeds back to 2133mhz. ive enabled the D.O.C.P profile and tried many other things. any help is appreciated!

Do you actually have 2 separate 2x8gb kits of RAM? Mixing RAM kits is not guaranteed to work together without issues and often using 4 dims won’t reach as high speed as 2 dims.

yeah i have 2 kits for a total of 32gbs

Does it work at 3000? If it does and everything is stable don't worry about the 200MHz.

In which case it’s trial and error. Mixing kits there are no guarantees, you will have to try manual settings but you likely will need to run slower speed or higher voltage or both. In some cases you may not be able to get them to be stable.

when i run only 2 sticks(16gbs) it boots with frequency set to 2933mhz. when i run all 4 (32gbs) it boots with freq set to 2733. this is good for now. ill continue to see what i can do. thanks!
